[Trait] descriptions need to get improved
-Sigh-. This is a bug in the game that they need to address asap. It’s absolutely mandatory that they fix some of the skill descriptions which were"overly simplified" to a point that it’s impossible to understand with the basic reading comprehension. For example, in the trait tree “illusions” for a mesmer:
[Phantasmal Haste]
Skill Descrition: phantasm recharges 20% faster.
It’s actually the ‘attack speed of phantasm’ recharges 20% faster, but many people would automatically the ‘recharge’ is for the skills which summons the phantasms. All they need is to add “two words”.
Basically, issues with the skill descriptions being misleading were reported almost over 2 weeks ago, and they’ve yet to make any changes.

Necromancer descriptions are awful. Some are labeled correctly such as the marks, but others such as corrupt boon say corruption which isn’t any part of any of the necro trait trees.
I wish each skill would tell which trait tree it is a part of.
i care. sorry for not replying earlier.
i was under the impression that the skills / traits description would be more detailed upon launch.
perhaps there is simply too much other important matters for them to handle at the moment.
i believe the skills / traits descriptions will have more details in them as time passes by though.
Well, I thought as well that trait icons and descriptions would be kind of placeholders, but obviously they are not!
Im afraid it will stay like this and you have to use the wiki if you want any detailed information about all the hidden numbers.
Diablo III made it right. Just add a checkbox in the options:
‘Detailed skill/trait/attribute description: [ ]’
and everyone would be happy
Gunnar’s Hold
The current situation is unacceptable and caters only super casuals who don’t really care about their true performance. I’m seriously disappointed if it stays like this. Can’t be good for the possible e-sports scene either.
Very true.
The Trait descriptions seems very vague and lacking detail; it definitely needs a change, as Guild Wars 2 is very competitive and people like me wish to know all the little details of the build I set for my character.
Currently we are far away of knowing all the little details, faaar away!
yeah well thieves get a trait that grants vigor upon healing, but signet of malice doesn’t proc it
Unfortunately it seems that nobody really cares, though it actually is something quite important… I mean, isn’t it bad not to be sure how a trait is actually effecting your build?
Good example, Guardian minor trait Elusive Power: Your deal more damage at low endurance.
How much more? 1%? 5%? 10%? What is considered low endurance? <50%? <10%?
These and many others are all important things I’d really like to know. I could sit here and list them but we all know how it is.
Kaimoon Blade – Warrior
Fort Aspenwood
Yyyeah, that really is annoying.
Like how Evasive Arcana (Elem Arcane GM) uses far weaker (but still great) versions of the listed skills.
Or, to use your example, shouts heal (for 1200+) versus Vampiric Rituals (Necro Blood GM), all wells siphon life… for about 24 a tick.
We tried to talk about that before (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/What-is-going-on/first#post59739), but it didn’t get any high response.
Maybe this time. =)
Yeah, I am definetely for more detailed descriptions..
There is probably something to come and they just don’t talk to us here, but giving players all the information and numbers on how a trait effects a build should actually be something common these days…
