Trait resetting tokens
Not going to happen. There’s a reason that Anet made a difference in this regard between GW1 and 2. Iirc they don’t want us to be able to switch our traits on the fly.
I will say though, especially if these tokens were only 5-6s, id be running around with a full stack and switch my traits before every encounter. It’d offer the ability to base my build on particular fights without screwing up other fights in the same instance.

A valid concern but lets expand on it a bit. Currently there is nothing preventing players from changing their traits for every encounter – it simply requires more time to play that way. If you are in PvE a quick travel to a skill trainer and waypointing back is everything you need to do. In dungeons you can leave whenever you want, retrait and get back. WvWvW is the only exception because of lack of WPs but in general since that game mode requires playing in waves (wipes) retraiting is not that much of an issue there since it can be easily done in Citadel or WP itself.
But… It takes time and sometimes can be really annoying (like when forgetting to retrait after opening a dungeon). If these tokens would really cause balancing issues then why not simply add usage restrictions on them and make them a bit pricier. Lets say make the tokens cost like Elonian wine (25s) which would really incentivize people to visit skill trainers instead of buying tokens. I would still buy them at 25s each. If their overuse is the concern then why not introduce a condition every time a token is consumed which will prevent players from using another one in the next 10-30m?
Essentially introduction of these tokens would be a convenience for a lot of players, the same way depositing collectibles to the bank is.
I like the idea of tokens. I hate zoning more than is necessary. There’s already a mechanic to be able to change my traits, why not put in a way to make it mobile.
are you kidding me? I never would agree to have them add another item to my already full bags…
They had a great respec system in Gw1, problem is this is not Gw1. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Template
There might have to be some differences to make it work under this system.
If they are gonna let you respec on the fly then they can either limit you to a couple of already pre-made choices or unlimited( I am hoping for unlimited)that you can hopefully flip and have everything you need fall in place like armor and weapons while out of combat.
Here is a reason in my minds eye that I think maybe they don’t want this is. Speed runs, special designed builds like running to get to a spot in the dungeon and then flip to a more tanky build to solo a boss or something like that.
You can switch to an full tanky equipment, so even without changing your traits, you can change. I think rather, that they want us to get an unique feeling by creating “our own personal build”… I rather would prefer builds like in GW1, maybe with a limitation to the amount of builds. I mean, I do not only want to use sometimes traits I dont have in my build, I also have often the situation, that switching to skills and weapons without any trait for them in my build means using rather always-but-less-useful traits (especially effects like on entering downed mode, not bad, but I prefer to stay up ). An extreme example, I met once an engeener loving player, who had 3 Engeeners, because he wanted to play different Engeener builds without always swapping around…
I’m pretty sure they’ll implement it with their “builds” system they are developping which will hopefully allow you to have a preset of traits (and maybe gear) for each weapon equipped. So if you use staff, you have XYZ build, swap to scepter/dagger, you have the ABC build, etc.
Respec-ing would only be charged if the currently equipped weapons have already a preset.
I’m saying stuff that might not appear but look at the good side: builds are coming sometimes this year (I think).
They wont do that [edit: for gear]. I hope they will stop wanting us to play only one build (that normal players shall transform their weapons for a buildchange sounds not like the idea of multiple builds with intense swapping).
They said, that swapping stats will be a bonus of legendary weapons. Though I would really love this, I am happy to have a reason to buy multiple armors cause of different stats
