I’m an altoholic and have accumulated more than 1 stack of these Transmutation Stones, however, the more useful Crystals are Gem Shop only with a rare chance of dropping from BL chests and daily/monthly rewards.

So my suggestion is, why not have a recipe that can upgrade the stones into crystals?
Maybe it could be something simple like throw (n times Transmutation Stones)(Skill Point Item)(Dust)+(Ingot) into the MF and it will return a crystal, that way we might be able to free up bank space or be more inclined not to delete these things as soon as you get them.

It is one of the few “useful” things in the story.
Removing the need to buy them would most likely deal a rather serious blow to ArenaNets income.

As an altoholic you should find those quite useful, since my understanding is that altoholics spend a lot of time leveling their alts. I use them at a whim’s notice, often transforming some low level story rewards up to higher levels (e.g. my Avenger’s Shortbow skin is still used on my lvl 50 Thief)

But I still agree with you on transmutation stones upgrade recipe.

I only level chars to 80 and then start to care about skin cause lower than 80 you are changing armor as you level up. So I don’t need the low level transmutation stones(maybe for the transmute achievement they still can be used).

And I agree that they might be something that makes people buy gems to buy them directly in store(if they don’t want to farm for keys and try their luck – don’t know if this still is possible but heard of people that made new chars and played story until you got a key then deleted the char and made a new one and repeated that).

It would depend on how many of the basic stones you need I think. If you need really a lot then it would not be “OP” and still people would need to buy the better quality stones for level 80 stuff.

I really would like to get rid of the low quality stones even if it need a lof of them only for 1 of the level 80 transmutation crystals. Still better than throwing the stones away.
