Transportation
This game is not designed for Mounts, the Areas are just not large enough.
Could you imagine a Norn riding a mount? He would be taller than a house.
Also, the world is packed with detail, there’s something to see everywhere, there aren’t large, open areas where you could ride a mount around.
We don’t need anything else in addition to waypoints either, they make every corner of the world accessible in 5 Minutes of loading screens (kittenMIT ANET)
Let’s be honest here, Tyria isn’t exactly what anyone would call ‘sprawling’, is it?
I could probably understand the need for terrestrial mounts, if it were necessary to cover extremely long distances, but as the world is split into smaller, enclosed, gated zones (liberally sprinkled with waypoints for ease of travel)…there’s really no need for mounts to be included ingame.
As for flying mounts (seriously?) – you really wouldn’t get a feeling of true aerial freedom as you’d still be restricted by those enclosed zones – making their inclusion even more pointless than that of their ground-based counterparts.
I don’t see the need for mounts, but I wouldn’t mind cheaper/free waypoints and/or increased base movement speed. Even more than that, though, I would love a first person camera view like we had in GW1.
