Does anyone else think having some sort of treasure map system would be a fun and interesting form of “end-game” for lack of better words? My thought on this is that it would resemble that which Runescape had (yes unfortunately Runescape) but was one of the best parts of that game in my opinion. You get a chance to have mobs drop tiers of treasure maps (difficulty levels) do puzzle(s) and/or riddles to solve a series of clues leading to the treasure or something like that. There could even be group version of this (2-5 people). The rewards you get could be cosmetic: gear/weapon skins, dyes etc (ideally of higher quality than the Black Lions chests). I don’t really know the extent of effort on Anet’s part to implement this, just curious to see if there’s any interest at all for it.

lol i knew it, RS but yes it would be a great idea ( besides the fact that a game already has it)

I wonder if it is something that is in the game http://www.guildwars2junkies.com/tag/treasure-map/
I have never seen one, though.

That sounds just like a consumable that spawns a treasure box.

It’ll be better if it was a treasure with a description of spots you have to visit, and you can’t skip right to the X, you have to follow the instructions of the map as it changes, and then you can dig and open the chest.

No exceptions!

@ Mithran: That’s what I meant when I said solving a series of riddles/clues, sorry I wasn’t clear about it >.> Say you get a map or maybe a clue of some sort that tells you to visit an npc/specific location to get the next piece of the clue, and after several (or many depending on various difficulty levels) clues you finally come to the spot to claim your reward. No skipping to the ‘X’, you would need to complete each step before moving to the next.
