I can’t see how this one hasn’t been addressed yet. Throw down a turret and in two-four hits from trash, it’s destroyed. A major focus of the Engineer class can’t stand up to a stiff breeze.
Why is this? Even buffed and traited, they die with an additional hit. There isn’t anything for it. They’re just not worth using at this point. Down, hit, boom.
And the workaround from the Engineer forum? Deploy, Overcharge, Destroy. Yeah. Drop and then blow it up. Worthless.
They’ve been like this since release. Its been long enough. I think that a stern “Fix it!” is appropriate. You managed to omit the turrets from the pet/minion health buff last patch. Fix your oversights. Turrets need usability. That means survivability.

Nope. I put it up on the Engineer forum and it was taken down by a forum mod who said that while they did want to hear about feedback, positive and negative, that wasn’t the place for the post. Then a post went up asking that all feedback about class mechanics be directed to the bugs forum. So, since this mechanic is broken, it needs to be here.
The moderation seems, at times, rather…well, spotty.
I’ve seen posts removed from General Discussion, then placed into Engineer when they were successfully appealed, I’ve seen posts no different from many on the Engineer boards moved to the Suggestions forum for no reason at all.
Recently, they even deleted my player-reference thread about Turret Bugs from the Engineer forum because I said I was considering uninstalling the game – apparently, this was grounds for claiming that the thread was created solely for the sake of complaining months after it had been created.
I appealed that, and was successful, but I’ve yet to see my thread restored.
Maybe they just lack oversight to make sure what they’re doing is what they should be doing. It certainly sounds like that’s what’s involved here.

Exactly. I don’t have any faith in the appeal process. ANet doesn’t have a consistent policy in place for dealing with negative feedback. Some mods delete threads, saying they don’t mind negative feedback, but the thread was too hostile, even when it wasn’t, and some don’t even bother giving a reason, the thread just disappears. But in every instance I’ve seen, the thread disappears. I think this one is due for it, too. Which is sad, because it means another thread about how broken the Engineers are as a class, specifically in their core mechanic – Turrets, is going to disappear as if everything is fine.
Turrets are useless. The main method of employment is to drop, overcharge and blow. They don’t stay down, they don’t have sustained DPS because of their pathetic health levels, and they get no love. Even Overcharge is broken, because if you don’t use it at the right time in the animation cycle, the turret stops working altogether. The state of turrets, since they are a big part of my engineer’s play style, makes me cry. I quit playing him for all but the content where I MUST HAVE an 80. There is a preponderance of evidence about these issues.
But we don’t get any attention. And that’s sad. A little justified irritation should be fine, but it will probably get this thread deleted, like all the others. In a way, I can’t blame the devs from not knowing about the issues, because the forum mods are probably not telling them about the threads they delete before anyone can notice bad press.

Fixing the bugs would be a good start. After that, scaling could possibly be considered.
And now the mods decide this is a suggestion rather than testimony about a bust mechanic in the game that is making a class ability worthless to play. The turrets are bugged and they want to call a request to fix them a “suggestion”.

Hover Turrets would be awesome, but fixing their crap survivability would be better. You know what, that’s fine, too. Give turrets mobility, the ability to dodge/evade attacks, and the survivability bug will be fixed, too. Scalability would be good, too, but one bug at a time.

This is not a suggestion. This is a bug. But ANet won’t treat it like one, so we’re going to have to make sure they know this isn’t going away.
