First, make sure to understand that im not asking for more buttons to press, but more options instead, im asking for weapon skill customization.

One of the biggest complains of hardcore players and old GW1 players is the lack of customization and simplification of skills due to weapon skill sets, while i like the system i can see why other do not and i can see a way to improve it, without increasing the complexity too much or screwing up the (already pretty bad) balance.

My suggestion is the following: when learning the last weapon skill the player also unlocks 1 or 2 other skills that can be swapped by a default skill (including the auto-attack), these skills can only be changed out of combat just like the healing, elite and utility skills, the players would also have the option to rearrange their original skills without picking any of the optional extra weapon skills if they wished so. (this system could work differently for thieves due to their unique skill 3 while dual wielding)

In the end this would allow players to change their fightstyles to switch better with their builds, and allow the creation of entire new builds while keeping the existing ones, without the need of creating entire new weaponsets.

I would like to see something like this eventually. I mean, they would have to do something along these lines to keep the gameplay from getting stale, and it doesn’t require the cop-out of just bumping up the level cap. I’m sure that with the first expansion pack there will be slot-able weapon skills.

This also avoids the problem of just giving every profession access to every weapon, which I think personally would be problematic

I personally Don’t see this happening. Right now, GW2 is headed in a direction of league gaming. Balance is paramount. The more variables introduced to a weapon, the harder that becomes. I do however, see them adding other weapons and possibly even other variations of weapons. Time will tell, Totally want my Hylek warrior with a 2 handed axe. Battletoads FTW.
