Why Tyrian purple? Because it actually existed and has been said to be the most expensive dye ever made. For years it was the dye of royalty and the very wealthy.

This is a site that will help tell what it is actually http://condor.depaul.edu/sjost/gph205/paint-pigments/tyrian-purple.htm

Due to it being real and called Tyrian purple I think that it would fit perfectly in our game. Instead of just collecting and crafting the stuff really fast make the resources very rare and not only do you have to have 400 in food to make dyes you also need a precursor bottle to put it in. And a recipe that costs 500,000 to 1,000,000 karma or something similar. I suggest the devs do some research on this color and come up with our first legendary dye.

The colour looks very similar to some colors already in game. However, I do like the idea of legendary dyes that perhaps apply some kind of unique effect, like a shimmer, glow or chromatic effect when used on armor.

We do have things that already do this however, the legendary weapons like the Juggernaut – it might be interesting to see more though, people love making themselves stand out from the crowd.

I’d love to have legendary dyes… but only if the system used to craft them is something that requires some effort and not just playing the BLTC.

It’s an interesting idea to craft a legendary dye.
As a long term-target…
[joke]or just to tell at anyone “Hey you I have money” [/joke]
But there should also be something special; like those effects on legendary weapons.

If you’re (just) interested in Tyrian Purple as a color to dye your armor, you may have a look at wine or maroon, both of them are rare.

Tyrian purple is called purpur in german…
The ingame-dye maroon is also called purpur in the german client.
Both of them, wine and maroon are realy nice colors, combined with golden metalic-parts and “midnight ice”-dyed baselines/contures.
