Q:

So all along since the first week released of guild wars 2, i gotten my precursor and at that moment i did not realized how precious it was and had no idea what does soulbound meant. Been trying over and over again to get support to help me un-soulbound, unfortunately there’s no such system.

Would be really great if the Gem Store would have an item that allows player to un-soulbound the items that they do not need anymore, and players would be able to sell it off TP or give it to their friends. I don’t see much harm in the economy by implementing this “item”. Furthermore, i bet players would certainly buy it.

Win – Win situation ! Please consider.

There would have to be a distinction made on which items it would un-soulbind. It could not remove account bound either (karma purchase items are account bound to prevent conversion of Karma to coin). Not a bad idea, but there would be some caveats to consider.

I’d prefer to have soulbinding removed completely and make all “bound” items account bound. At least them you could move items to alts. There is a constantly increasing support base for this idea as well.

Still rather prefer if we were able to sell those items that we no longer needed in the TP though. But good suggestion!

It would destroy the economy. Apart from that … win-win???

This would completely destroy the economy.

“Oh, I’m done with this sword, I’ll just throw it onto the TP with all the other millions of items that shouldn’t be on there.” followed by “Anet! why is there a thousand people undercutting me by 1c!?”

There is simply too many items that would be dumped on the TP because they are so easy to get in game.

At the most, I’d say to make the Soulbound items account-bound.

I agree with Dalent, making it account bound is better than Soulbound on Use. Think of the dungeon rewards, I think those exotic weapons won’t be ~2g but less.

I have a similar situation. I have bought precursor, equip it and started to collect mats for legendary, but few months after I stopped playing that character. I’m now in that kind of situation that all that’s keeps me continue play GW2 its to make legendary, but I don’t want to do it on the character I don’t play much. The idea of buying new precursor makes me depressed!!! So “Un-soulbonding” device can be very helpful.

Personally, I think things like trinkets should all be account bound, but that would go probably be overboard. One could just buy 1 set of jewelry for all their characters to use. So overtime, those items would become less and less demanded. But, this idea would actually put a gold/gem sink into transferring gear to your other characters, and I think that’s a great idea. I would say that it would have to return the item to an account bound state so it would never be able to re-enter the economy. I’m begging to give anet money for this item (for the useless zerker rings and swords I have in my bank that will never be used again on one character, but will have to be farmed and bought for another). As a semi-casual player, it would be much easier for me to just pay anet to unsoulbind those items so I can just WVW. Instead, I’ll be spending the next couple of weeks farming pve to re-gear a character that I only want to wvw with. :/

Account bound is good idea. The only option if you have a soul bound precurser would be to make it into a legendary and sell it that way.

The change should be get rid of soulbound items in favor of account bound items. If they want to do that through the cash shop and make some money, by all means be my guest.

Contrary to some of the other points, this change would promote build experimentation and player participation.

What economy?
Does it matter that each gold piece has less buying power now than it did at the start of the game? No.
If all players had 20% more gold, would it matter? No.
Does it make sense to care about the economy when you can buy gold through anet? …No?

I think that making the item that is soulbound to account bound would be the right balance without destroying the economy with excess supply. However this will slow demand for goods, but will definitely put some money in ANET’s pocket to develop the game.

Works for me! Roll it out!

I am for account bound. soulbound is just me wasting stuff. I have to salvage an exotic jewellery because its wasting space and have no use for it on the soulbounde character. It be nice to transfer to an alt. id buy gems if its supporting anet to create such a mechanic.

I don’t think un-soulbinding items would break the economy, but allowing it in all cases would probably break the trading post.

Most weapons/armor of a given type always drop with the same upgrade component. If you could insert whatever upgrade component you want and then sell it on the trading post, you’d end up with about 100 different listings for each and every equippable item, all slightly different due to upgrade components. Personally, that’s not something I’d like to see.

That doesn’t necessarily prevent them from offering it as a service if you haven’t changed the upgrade component in your item, nor is it a problem for making things account-bound instead of soulbound. But I’m reasonably confident that an option to completely unbind ANY item is never going to appear, purely for the sake of sanity on the trading post.

I just wish that dungeon weapons/armour, and ascended trinkets were all account bound. You can already make a soulbonded ascended ring into a soulbond on use ring with mystic forge recipes. how much harm can making it account bound in the first place be?

I don’t see how making things you have equipped accont bound instead of soulbond can be bad in any way. Now I’m sitting here with Mad Memoires from halloween on a character I will never play again. I want to send it to my main because it looks amasing, but I can’t, and there is no way to obtain it now. So sad…

I 2 think it’s the right way to make an item to unbound.
I’ve got the same problem today. i have a necromancer and i have buyed exotic armour for it. but my staff (exotic 4g) have i sended to my warrior to transmusion for a nicer visual. but then my staff was soulbound after a transmusion and nothing was said in the description of the transmusion stone. So i have a warrior with a staff and it can’t wear it or sell it so that’s my problem i can’t send it to my necro pls fix this problem

Id like to see them change soulbound to only account bound. Seems pointless and over kill to have both. I was unaware that the trans stone now makes everything soulbound instead of account bound so now im stuck with all these cool backpack items for one character and they all have the soldier prefix on them. Please atleast throw on a unSOULbind stone on gemstore or at least a ACCOUNT bound stone.

It wouldn’t because other games are doing it right now and some have been for years and never had a hitch so. It might actually allow people to earn something other than the people who got those free precursors or started at head start and made a ton when DR didn’t exist and the loot nerfs weren’t in game yet. That’s what people are really worried about.

I would definitely love a way to make soulbound/account bound items to ONLY account bound! I don’t care about selling them on the tp, I care about the fact that

1) Some people accidentally open it up on the wrong character ie. (can’t use it, wrong class, ect.) and then can’t do anything with it. (This is especially horrible for cash shop items, as my friend just had this exact problem)

2) Some people get tired of their characters, and want to delete/remake them, which in turn just THROWS away the items you spend hard earned money on. Like harvesting tools and item bags!

Now don’t misunderstand me, I don’t want it OPEN and not bound at all, but kitten AreNet please at least make it so the players don’t have to buy certain items from the cash shop for EVERY single character if they want to use it. :\ Some of us only get free money to spend on this game once in a while, and I love this game…
