Unofficial Orr Server
Those are great suggested servers!
I’d suggest Tarnished Coast as the unofficial Guesting server as well (for NA) in general. Simply because we do have a lot of people out in the world already, so we have a solid foundation for visitors.
I was thinking about this too. Have a server for people to guest for leveling. It would help with the empty zones feeling.
I wish anet would have created home world/overflow option to click on while out in pve land. Overflow would group players in that zone up from all servers if players so chose to do so in an effort to populate zones better.
Why can’t you leave TC to the RPers? It already has an ‘unofficial’ purpose and has been swarmed by WvW bandwagons, pick something else.

Having an unofficial “Orr” server sounds cool. I plan to visit TC first with guesting since I’ve heard it’s busy, but I’m amenable to visiting any other truly busy server, as well.

TC has a very active PvE community that’s why. Also, TC has a very friendly community that always welcomes new people. Moreover, we will not be touching WvW neither will we be interrupting in their RP unless they want to do it at the Temple of Grenth. Also, people who want to RP or go visit TC will go regardless of the server. Here we are only limiting it to Orr so they wouldn’t be effected in any way imo.

No, TC is not a WvW bandwagon server. We got a few guilds that came over to try and help fill our coverage gaps but we aren’t dominating and on our way to Tier 1 or anything like that. We got where we are in WvW because our players are gluttons for punishment and keep coming back for more carnage regardless of who we are up against. If it wasn’t for the upcoming standings reset, TC would most likely end up slipping down to Tier 3 again. We can’t compete with the Uber Servers sporting 24/7 coverage.
TC tried to flip the Orr Temples daily even before this patch. It’s a fine choice for guesting for that purpose but note that we are still working on the new Grenth as far as I know. We’ll keep trying until we get him. It’s a moral imperative.
My characters think I’m crazy.

There’s a flaw here in assuming that people who enjoy role-playing their character don’t go out in the world and adventure. In fact, I’d argue that out in the world adventuring is where the best kind of role-playing happens.
The majority of Tarnished Coast won’t remain very friendly if it’s flooded by just anyone looking for a crowded server. The majority will soon become the minority.
I can’t imagine anyone wanting their server to become the unofficial Orr server. I chose my server for very specific reasons. What good was that decision if every time I travel into Orr I end up on an overflow server because guests have flooded the real zone?
This is not what guesting should be used for. And if ArenaNet is going to allow this then they need to give zone priority to players that chose the server in question as their home. “Guests” can have whatever space is left.

I don’t think there will be that many people crowding for Orr. I was in TC guesting and while they do they have a decent number of people in Orr, its not a lot .They are still to complete Grenth (as reported earleir by someone) which a lot of servers have done. And also, overflows take a max of 5 mins. I would be pretty happy to wait 5 mins to get into an active region rather than a dull, dreary and empty wasteland….
+1 to this I’m glad to see someone name a good server to use (I had the same general idea but no method to make it happen)

I posted something similar to this yesterday, but it disappeared under the flood of update threads (I should have seen that coming tbh). I’m glad to see someone else thought the same thing about having unofficial servers. I think unofficial servers would be a great way to get people together to do content they want to, and that we should have one for dungeons as well.
I didn’t actually think too much about which world would have each purpose, but if this is done successfully the majority of the players would probably be guests, so I figured a low population world might be a decent choice so that way it’s not crowded an already crowded area, and those who guest to it would be the ones who are specifically going there for events (as opposed to mat farming). Overall though, I don’t think it really matters what server is chosen, as long as people can agree on it.
If it gets to the point where the overflow takes way to long to get in (seems kind of unlikely), we can just choose a second world with the same purpose.
