Upcoming features
What else? Flying mounts? Addons? I think you might be playing the wrong game….
I cant wait for a form of Character customization, after 80 levels i really regret the way i made my asura look and would love to change it.
Also dueling and direct trading are simply a must.
Race change? I can’t even picture the implications on the personal story.
@ Muthax, I see no reason why you would make the comparison with WoW. The features I suggested might be available there, but I’m sure everyone can agree that they’ve been in a lot of mmorpg’s and for good reasons. Besides, if you have nothing useful to say, it’s often a good idea to remain silent.
Question still stands. Is there any news on race changes?
There already is a way to change your race. Go to the main menu and select the “Create New Character” button.
Direct trading is all i want to see.
Main question: Will ‘race change’ be available in the future? (and/or other character mod. options)
Additional questions: Will the following be available in the future?
- Duelling
- Direct trading
- Dungeon finding systems
- Dungeon teleporting
Dueling in certain zones is a good idea. Direct trading, they already said why it wont be in game please do a little research. Dungeon finder would be a god send. Dungeon teleporting? I have no idea what you are complaining about. There is a waypoint in front of each dungeon already.

I can’t imagine why anyone would make a WoW comparison for these suggestions. Dueling, direct trading, dungeon finding, and teleporting all seem to be something that would strengthen any game.. It doesn’t take away from a single aspect of the game and only goes to add a better user experience.
Race change may be a little tricky, but let’s be honest… If it will make the company money, at some point, they very well may add it.
Sick of the community ripping other people’s heads off for asking questions and saying “Go back to WoW”. This game runs off of the same principal. You level up, you collect items, you get in a group and kill stuff. It’s an MMO. No matter how many bells and whistles you add, you can’t change that.
Dueling is coming :] got to ask a developer during beta and said it’s definitely coming.
There’s no way they’ll offer a race change since your personal story is tied to your race. A way to change the look of your character should be in the cards though.
There will be no race change. Your personal story is directly related based on the starting branches of your race. Noble is a human choice that does not an option for any other race. As much as joining the Synergetics is only Asura… so on. There will be no race change. This was fine in many other MMO where race was usually nothing but a skin model, but in this case it’s directly tied to your adventure and experience. but honestly I would like a race change option too. I just know it won’t happen.
I think they will put in Dueling. I hope they put in a more robust dueling system though. Try to bring the flavour of old legends of people traveling the world to sharpen their steel in duels. Offer rewards and xp based on the number of different people your fight or close to par level but basic duel option I see coming someday. probably soon ish. As with many ideas they need to work out the kinks and early content that’s already in development first. Like “Guesting”
Direct Trading will not come in. If it does which I don’t think they will. It will be purchasable by gem store. Direct Trade opens doors to an easier time for third party gold selling. They want to hinder that. I like DT, so I agree having the option would be nice. But yeah. I think if they do it will be purchasable with gems.
Dungeon Finder? ummmm. maybe, maybe not. Where SWTOR got one was because the content ran dry if you weren’t alt-aholic. Leaving dungeons and the loot drop as required. However, since the game is about DEvents and your down scaled to travel with lower guild level players. I don’t see it as nescesarry. I’m leaning that it won’t be implemented. Keep in mind Anet doesn’t need you to pay again and again. So their is no need to keep you interested. You have payed, they just want you to come back once and awhile to see the new content. I don’t see a DFinder coming in. but you never know.
There will be no dungeon teleporting. Teleport to dungeon only came about since it required to find groups then travel to dungeon. With MMO you could easily be 10 to 20 minutes away if your grinding faction. Since GW2 has waypoints just about everywhere and likely no more than 3 minutes at the fartherst. I doubt they will put in teleports.
I would like ground mounts providing they are done right. I would like to see ground mounts that actually server more of a purpose than just a speed bonus. How about being able to fight, charge into combat. Make it easy to get knocked off and KD for a second as the price, but hey that’s fine. Otherise again as players can just waypoint anywhere they want once it’s open I don’t see ground mounts becoming mandatory.
There will be no flying mounts in this game ever. GW2 has waypoints as above. Even if this wasn’t the case the Map’s are not built into a seemless world. The zones are sectioned off. Also personally I think flying mounts destroyed much of the exploration experience. Since jumping puzzles are intergral part of this game. It will never happen. If your going to have flying mounts then the game needs to be built with that concept from the ground up.

Why so angry?
Especially for a new player in a new game, things like “Oh, the camera perpective on Asura/Charr gives me a headache and after playing 80 levels worth I’d like to see if I can change this one to one that I can stick with longer term” make perfect sense.
Duelling makes perfect sense, ESPECIALLY in a “role playing” game.
Flying mounts (in my opinion) do make a world much smaller and I understand and agree with them being missing from this game, but even if the OP had asked about them, why be scornful and abusive of the questions?
Person to person trading could be a nice addition some day but like anything having to do with loot, needs to be implemented carefully.
As far as I’m aware, there’s no official word on any of these things except a vague reference to dueling being added if enough people request it.
[edit] And a dungeon finder might fall into the category of “must have eventually”. I tried with each new in game mail to find groups for the dungeons as they opened up, but because for whatever reason, they were put in zones that aren’t level appropriate, other than to get a group, I had no reason to be there, which made finding a group PAINFUL. As in “not fun”, which aNet has stated is their touchstone for what goes into the game.
So one hopes…
Instaport to dungeons? I’ll pass. The waypoints are close enough for me. I hate to pay for them, especially now that I’m 80, but I HATED the way WoW implemented it. It totally shouted, “This is a grind! This is a grind! This is a grind!”. It was like, “well, you have to do dungeons to progress, but getting to them completely sucks, so… here’s a ‘gift’”.
Ugh. Hated it.
Hope that helps, OP.

I personally would like to see them update the current Looking For Group tool so that you could put in more information. Similar to the one that they had in GW1. You don’t really need an instant portal to the dungeons since there are waypoints everywhere.
As for mounts, although not really a necessity, I think it would be fun to collect them. So that has my vote too.
Housing…i want housing… (done right though!)
@Duel
I doubt this feature will be added “soon” but may be possible in the future. I base this on the lack of duel features in the original GW, which they drew heavily on when making this game. Although I’ll admit it would be nice to settle the age old “my abc could beat your xyz” arguments.
@Direct Trade
I doubt this feature will be added at all. The trading post takes care of “business” end of trading by providing a structured trading environment while the “casual” end of trading can be done via mail (since it is assumed that both casual traders have some sort of mutual relationship). Direct trading would be important if either of those did not exist (such as during the game’s release).
@Dungeon Finders
A basic Find Party feature exists, albeit rarely used. A more refined version of it that details what the party is looking to do (tasks, farming, instance, etc.) would be nice. Although anything more than that would likely lead into matchmade groups, which I’d rather not have.
@Dungeon Teleporting
All you have to do to teleport to an instance is be in the same zone. As soon as one person enters everyone else can follow. With most instances having a waypoint right outside this seems unnecessary.
