It sort of destroys the skill, because noone wants to run forwards, just to get thrown backwards again and then use up part of the swiftness bonus to continue running and make up for it. Also, it’s pretty disruptive on yourself. The description of the skill is even totally different than this behaviour (the description is fine).

Colin ‘The Liar’ Johanson: “Everyone, including casual gamers, by 80 should have the
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on equal power base.”

Solution:
1. Bind a key to “about face” (I use C for easy access)
2. Hit bound key immediately before and after casting. Now, the ability will rocket you forward

it’s actually REALLY good for S/D, You rush forward, do an arcane wave for some combo finishers, maybe use the sceptre 2 and 3 skills, then updraft away to get back to mid range and switch to a new attunement (it fits air really well, those brief moments where you strike like a bolt from the blue, and then in an instant, you’re gone, leaving your target on the ground and blinded and you look like you haven’t moved)

plus, for D/D builds it’s a free dodge, nobody says you need to use it immediately after RtL

I feel like a vanguard from mass effect :P

the jump back is incredibly useful, it sets you up nicely for another closing move.

Ride the lightning in, updraft back out, then close with burning speed, ring of fire, arcane blast…..

The jump back is great, it puts distance after moving in so you are less time in melee.
