Guild Wars 2

So I bought this game about 4 days ago, never played an MMORPG. Joined a guild a coupe days in and been having a blast leveling and chatting with guild members.

I’ve noticed a problem since the guild was just starting, it was easy to know who was who and such but as it grows and the number of players i chat and play with grows on a daily basis, it gets hard remembering every members multiple character names.

I’m not a name guy, I have a hard time memorizing names. So when I play with a guy and notice his character name in front of me the whole game, i remember that. I don’t remember their “account name” which is kind of a pain cause later your not sure if that other character is him or not.

Just seems kind of funny to have all these character names in front. Their should be an option to switch it to account name so when I run into a guild member or chat with a guild member, its his account name so I can go hey, its Joe, he has a elementalist now.

Maybe theirs a way to set nicknames or notes on a character that i don’t know about too?

Yes this would be helpful.

It the meantime you can hover and see their account name in tooltip.

But having the ability to either see account name or toon name (or both) would be great.

this can be expanded to all chat channels. A siple option for chat: [x] show account name will be easily to implement alongside all other options

Account names (similar to what we already see on the forums) are already displayed in the guild roster. So I can see if Random Alt A and Random Alt X are played by the same person just by comparing that name (which also shows at all times even when they are offline).

Make a note of the name next time that person is online in the guild. If you’re having trouble with remembering the connection write it down on a piece of paper and have it nearby. A notepad works wonders for when you need to jot down information like this for reference later.

If you are friended with them and you mouse over the toons name in chat, it will show you their account name. That might help.
