Uses for Achievement Points
This would be stupid and compeltely against ANet’s resistant stance on “Play for a long time = own the market”.
By stupid, I mean free waypoints and armour repair.
You have a great achievement system, but right now those points aren’t really doing anything beyond looking pretty and going up.
My suggestion is to be able to buy things with achievement points. Nothing too game breaking. For purchasing these items, you could subtract the achievement points being “spent”, or just have users unlock the items once their achievement points have reached a certain threshold (preferred, I think, since people still want to show how many points they have).
Small-ish items to be considered:
New titles, new mini pets, new town clothing, special fun items (like the EL tonics and CoEF from GW1).
You could also have game-changing items for very high costs (something for players to strive for). Two suggestions I can think of would be:
“Frequent Flyer” – all waypoint travel is now free (this would be for example for 50k or 100k points, something far off.
“Dungeon Dirt Inspector” – all armor repairs in dungeons are now free (this could be at 100k or 200k achievement points).
This would be stupid and compeltely against ANet’s resistant stance on “Play for a long time = own the market”.
