I would like to have the option of using another utility skill in the #10 Elite Skill slot on the skill bar. Elite skills are nice but the cool downs are kitten-ing annoying. I would so love to be able to slot a passive or something else actually useful (condition wipe anyone?) since I solo most of the time. Useful= reasonable CD.

I’m all for being ‘empowered’ not over-powered. It’s not like I’m asking for more skills on the hot-bar or to be able to add another bar (which would be quite awesome for food/pots btw). Just a little flexibility on the skills I already possess. They can even make it so passives are not useable or maybe passives are the only skill other than Elite skills useable in that slot. They can also make it so that functionality is not useable in pvp. All I know is, on some of my characters, I rarely use that Elite skill unless I’m in a group taking down a boss/Champ. I don’t do pvp and I solo almost exclusively. It sure would be nice to have that extra condition wipe when soloing multiple monsters that each have a condition attack. (Dominion Killing Zone in Kessex Hills anyone?)

Unfortunately this would result in certain overly powered combos, most probably only on a few classes.

I’d rather they improve elite skills, shorten cooldowns or buff up power of them and introduce more of em.

I think you miss the point of what the term Elite means and I feel that Anet has too. If replacing an Elite Skill with a Utility Skill makes players overpowered then this means that all or many of the current Elites fail. And I do not mean they fall short by any small measure, I mean they out right fail to live up to the term Elite.

People want something that works seamlessly with their profession and various builds. The various utilities can do this, the 3 Elites for each class, that you are not always happy to take even if they are your only options, do not.

As an example, you will never see an Elementalist use the skill Tornado after they have used it once or twice just to have their laughs and giggles. You are too easy to cc hold at range, kill, and you do almost no damage in this form. And as the class that is in the lowest armor and starting health brackets, why would you ever want to be in mele range, while blocked off from your other skills.

I almost never see Elite skills that are forms or summons used.

Forms are very limiting and leave you vulnerable and provide very little to make up for this.

Summons face the problem almost all pets face they either seem too squishy or their AI tells them to go look at that butter fly over there and then aggro that Champion, Legendary, Boss.

Thats because elite skills are balanced for the long cooldown to counter there (potential) strength while utilities are balanced around having 3 of them with their shorter cooldowns.

While many elites could do with tweaking, the combination of 4 faster utilities can potentially become much stronger simply due to the extra combinations possible and the faster speeds.

they need to learn what most other games have already learned… long cooldowns suck! shorten whatever the skill does and in turn shorten its cooldown.
