Utility skills in Elite slot
I would like this option. I agree that there are too many useless elite skills . What I would add to this though, is whichever utility you put in the elite slot gets a buff, increase in duration, increase in intensity, or maybe for some even new special effects (not all of these at once though). Granted there would need to be restrictions on which skills can be slotted because some utilities are borderline OP in their normal forms already.

This has been brought up before; and yes, the search function on these forums is abysmal.
This would be too powerful. Just to name a few examples:
Mesmers traited to have damage reduction and damage boosted with every mantra charged.
Necro’s traited with boosted wells.
Guardians traited with boosted spirit weapons.
etc..
What I’d rather see are more elite skill options. Not every class has an elite version of all their utility types, and they should IMO.
Agreed.
Depending on which of my characters I’m playing, I tend to forget I even have elite skills because they’re hardly ‘elite.’ An extra utility skill would be far more useful.
Although…a rework of the elite skills to actually make them ‘elite’ would be even better…

To me, uber-powerful and/or strategic is kinda the point of an elite…
If a character’s trait setup gives them benefits for a particular kind of skill, that should also affect the elite skill slot. The player has given up other options for the extra benefits in that skill set. For example, for an Elementalist to trait for glyphs and not receive those traited benefits on their Glyph of Elementals (as is currently the case) is absurd, IMO.

Some classes will become ultraOP, being able to replace a long cd or less interesting elite for an more usefull/interesting or with very lower cd.
- And if this triggers gear and food skills?
- And if this allow to spamm same tipe of hability?
I don’t agree.
We talked about it in this thread:

On my mesmer I can only use time warp or mass invisibility underwater, both of these skills are very SITUATIONAL making them useless most of the time. Having some basic utility in their place would be much more appropriate.
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
In my opinion, if people want standard abilities over elites then there is something seriously wrong with the elites.
Crossplay, you’re not wrong.

It would be awesome. Similar to GW1 elites. GW1 elites were just enhanced versions of existing skills. And because there was so many elites, and so many builds were developed around their choice of elite, it created a lot of build options.
like that freedom idea.im supporting right now

warriors will no longer be the only ones who can run 5 signet builds
on a serious note, I agree a lot of utility skills can be much more useful than elite skills, especially underwater
