This has been bothering me since playing GW2.

You’re not able at all to check upon what or how much is in your bank collection.
Everytime I want to check on ecto’s, T6 mats or other stuff I have to travel to Lion’s Arch or somewhere else.

I’m not interested in withdrawing or anything I just wanna check the amount of what I have collected so far to decide how much I still need and to find out how much I progressed without traveling to a bank or craft.

and what exactly are you suggesting?
that your bank would inform you what about its contents, or you could remotely access it with some ‘read-only’ function.

If you’re clever enough to build up a system where you type in how much of a certain type of object you put in and how much you take out (alternative would be a system based on laser and the codes standing on your objects) you could make an app for your mobile phone with which you can access your device on the fridge via wifi and get all information about how many objects are in it. It’s not impossible it’s just that.. nobody built it yet.

Never the less… yes I was talking about some kind of read only access while you’re traveling around the world or doing several dungeon runs (or a long dungeon) run.

You can already access your recipes and how much you can craft of a certain item. So that’s already telling a bit but it’s not very user friendly when you want to find out how much got of a certain item or severals.

Well right now you can see your collections tab from:

-Going to a bank NPC
-Going to a crafting NPC
-Using the bank Express from gem store (35 Gems or free random drop from chests or “maybe” daily possible reward too?"
-If you have the DDE you can access your bank anywhere for a limited amount of time before that item expires in a few days.
-You can buy a permanent bank contract from BLTC (or hope for the luckiest rng chest drop ever) which would allow you access forever, anywhere, any time. I think they are 120g ish, maybe/probably higher.

That is 5 ways right now, and most of them are pretty convenient. Maybe an alternative account bound limited bank express would be nice. Maybe like the DDE one you can buy and lasts 7/14/30 days. Maybe 100/300/500 Gems.

So 35 gems isn’t too bad, but what your are referring to is convenience aspect. And we all know where convenience items end up :P

Well I’d prefer searching minutes after minutes for an item in my recipe list and read there how many I have of that one and then search minutes after minutes for the next than pay 1g 05s for every time I want to re-check the current amount of farmed result.

Again I’m not interested in taking materials I just wanna view how much.
Those items were introduced to give the player the ability to manage and take materials from bank, not view them in general.

I’m just asking for a simpler way to view them than search them in the crafting tab of the hero window.

In WoW there was a mod that I adored. If you had an item, or even a linked item in chat, you could mouse over it and in the tooltip it would say how many of that item you had across all your alts, breaking it down by each alt. So a guildie could ask for, say, 10 copper ore, and I could check their link and see where I had the ore stashed. It did require logging in on the alts and opening banks etc to refresh the mod’s data base.

Still, a feature like that would be a huge quality of life change in GW2. I certainly want to be able to look at a dye and know which of my alts (if any) have unlocked it!
