Vista/jumping puzzles for 100% map completion
Jumping puzzles are not mandatory to Map completion minus 1 vista, That is in the charr area and it is the Broken wall I believe.
Jumping puzzles are meant to be fun and out of the way and takes skill to do some of them. With that said minus the ONE PUZZLE that ends where the vista is and doesn’t give you a chest like all the other ones, you don’t need to do any of them for Map completion.
Personally I think and they haven’t since, that putting a vista on a Jumping puzzle is a bad idea. With that said I think; and I speculate here, the reason why Arena Net did this is to show people there are jumping puzzles in the game and give them a taste of how they work. Sort of a introductory of something else you can do in the game, seeing as they haven’t put in a vista to any other puzzle out there I feel this is as close to accurate as anyone can get.
I don’t see how they could add anything “mandatory” in future content, since people already have 100% world completion/gifts of exploration/etc. It’s not something I’d be worried about at least.
I get the frustration with platforming for the 100% world completion title, frivolous as it may ultimately be. But I think it’s justified for the gifts of exploration/legendary. You have to be good at multiple facets of the game to “earn” a legendary, and jumping puzzles are fair game there.
There are others besides wall breach blitz that are jumping puzzles (or puzzle-ish). Tribulation rift is the big one, but to be fair they nerfed it a bit after the halloween (?) update so it’s not as frustrating as it used to be. Others require a bit more platforming than most would probably expect in an MMO even if they aren’t true jps but I always figured that was the point of the vistas, forcing you into sort of hard-to-reach areas for the sake of the view.

There are actually 3 vistas that require the completion of jump puzzles in-game:
- Vizier’s Tower, Straits of Devastation
- Wall Breach Blitz, Diessa Plateau
- Tribulation Rift Scaffolding, Dredgehaunt Cliffs
That said, as far as jumping puzzles go, these ones are rather easy (though the latter two will kill you if you fall from later parts of them). I tend to agree with Kaimick that the reason this is as it is is to give people a taste of jump puzzles. I mean, they require WvW completion with the 100% exploration title, too, so it doesn’t surprise me any that they try to immerse you into jumping puzzles as well.

There is Vistas that are in round about location that require you to find your way up and sometimes make awkward jumps to get to them, but they are not Jumping puzzles. The only one that is “IN” a jumping puzzle is Breach Blitz
Kaimick, I just listed two others above. The vistas actually are right next to the reward chests for all three of them.

Yes there are Vistas near
- Tribulation Rift Scaffolding, Dredgehaunt Cliffs
- Vizier’s Tower, Straits of Devastation
But they are at the begin of the puzzles not at the end. You can gain the vistas and never complete the actual puzzle it self unlike in
- Wall Breach Blitz, Diessa Plateau
Which is the only Vista that requires you to complete a Jumping puzzle to get.
Hello,
that’s great news and then I can be fine with it.
Actually yesterday I did my second jumping puzzle leading to a vista.
The first one I did was in Kessex Hills in the south east. It leads to a vista (and a skill point too). Now maybe there is another way. I confess I followed a guide I found on the net.
At that time I already thought about posting my message, but I passed and thought, let’s see …
Then yesterday I came accross this second one in Dredgehaunt cliffs at the south west. I’m not sure about the broken wall, I hope it is this one

This is untrue unless it has changed since I obtained my exploration title a month ago. The jump puzzle reward chests and vistas were right next to each other, and one could not be obtained without the other.

Tribulation rift vista is at the end of the tribulation rift jp (within a stone’s throw of the chest); although perhaps technically not at the end, it is after all of the jumping sections of that jumping puzzle. Tribulation caverns JP is the one that starts from there on. 2 JPs in one.

Your right I just re did the two puzzles to make sure My apologies, although these puzzles are extremely easy and that is 3 out of the 40 puzzles that are in the game.
Griffon Rook Run is a lot more complex to do and a lot more complex if you want to get the chest from it.

Wall breach blitz is in diessa plateau, so it’s not the one you’ve done.
Actually for the kessex hills one you don’t have to do the jumping puzzle, you can just sort of jump down the cliffs from the Isgarren’s View POI in the southeast and reach the vista. Don’t know if it’s the intended route but it’s definitely possible.

Looks like my post on the subject started a debate
My reference is this site: http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/interactive-maps/
Here you can see the Diessa Plateau JP with only 9 pictures to show how to finish it.
On the other hand the DredgeHaunt Cliffs one: http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/vista-113/19102/ is not labelled as a JP (maybe a mistake on the site). Yet 50 pictures are needed to show the path.
As I mentioned in my 2nd post, I could make with one (probably less difficult) JP to show off this exists. But this debate proves that it is not that clear.
And to answer to cpg’s remark “I don’t see how they could add anything “mandatory” in future content”. I did not play GW1 so I have no idea how expansions went. But I guess there will be new maps to explore and new achievements for the expansions.
People will have 100% for the base game, but you will have to get your 100% related to the expansion exploration. Even with only one map they could add a 100% exploration achievement beyond the one from the base game.
I would rather not see JP to get to vista, or even non-JP-but-very-close-to-JP.
And I would rather not see any other mandatory thing which is a complete hassle (at least for some people) for a 100% completion.
Also I understand this 100% exploration should be like “hey, I did it” when done, I also think that if you take the exploration itself, it is already quite a huge accomplishement.

And now I came accross lightfoot passage vista. Again it is not a jumping puzzle per definition … But I still feel like this kind of thing has nothing to do in an MMO. Or as I said before, not being mandatory at least.
I lost more than 1 hour of gaming time, some money as you may guess in one hour I died several times there (a missed jump means most of the time instant death + some travel), was nervous, so not entertained at all and guess what ? I play a game for fun.
Most of the game is fun and I do not mind most vistas, but the ones like this one ? No, really …. no !
I stopped playing stupid Jumping Mario Bros games around 20 years ago (and I’m not that old, I swear). This is not to find this kind of thing again in a supposedly mature game (well in my mind an MMO is supposedly a mature game, am I wrong ?).

What’s wrong with platforming? Some things are hassles for some players. For some, I’m sure that platforming is. Does that mean that platforming shouldn’t be required to get some achievements? The platforming sections are integrated into the map, and therefore to complete the map you have to do some of them.
If you relax, then jumping puzzles are significantly easier, Imarion. If you can’t relax for a puzzle or are nervous about it, skip it and come back when you can relax.
Imarion, I feel as though you should be forewarned that platforming is required for endgame. If you want ascended gear, you are going to have to run fractals with platforming more difficult than any vista.
It makes me sad too, since I thought platforming would be more optional than it was when I bought the game. I’ve been able to complete all the “mandatory” bits so far, but it’s definitely not my favorite thing to do.
Out side of the small amount of Jumping puzzles that lead to vistas, ( which are easy puzzles to be honest with you ) to say that Fractals are mandatory to do is incorrect. No one ever has to do fractals ever in the game. The gear is not a great step up in stats from exotics, therefore if a player doesn’t have ascended gear it will not cripple them to do dungeons, and the person that has ascended gear will not be so overpowering to the person in exotics.
Of course with out fail you will have your elitist that will insist (once ascended armor is released (not rings and back pieces)) that in order to join their groups you have to have ascended gear, even if your doing CoF. Although that is not true that is just them, for every 1 person you find like that there will be at least 20 to 50 players that will not.
As I stated I believe the reason why Jumping puzzles and WvWvW is in world completion is so that Arena Net can hopefully interest people that may not have had an interest prior to that. Point in case my friend had no interest in WvWvW or Jumping puzzles but since he had to do the jumping puzzles in the game that required vistas he didn’t find them to be that bad and is now trying to complete them all. He has also started to like WvWvW a bit more, he wont actively jump in by himself but when the guild wants to go he will join ( where as before he wouldn’t). This is what I believe Arena Net is hoping for, now will every player do these and feel the same way as my friend ( advent hater of both JP and WvWvW turned neutral and a fan ) no, but even if Arena Net got 2000 player to see it I think it was a well invest interest for them to do that.

Vizier Tower is def not a jumping puzzle
def doesn’t count in the jumping puzzle pane
def doesnt have a jumping puzzle chest next to the vista

Umm according to everything about jumping puzzles it is and that is offical kitten from arena net.

Guess my game is wrong when it says I have an achievement for it in my jumping puzzle section, odd?
*def doesnt have a jumping puzzle chest next to the vista *
haven’t done it in a while so I can debate that
Lastly why did you quote me when nothing in my post had anything to do with Vizier Tower?

those are your words non?
All i did was prove your point wrong by showing there is another one that requires a vista that is a jumping puzzle so your argument of only 1 is invalid.
p.s. when i said def not i was being a smart kitten to note that your comment of 1 is invalid since vizier is also one.
o.o sorry if my word usage and word play was a little to hard for you.
If you do need help with sarcasm send me a private message i know a great tutor.

Didn’t see vizier mentioned above :o
And if you understood and apologized maybe you should have done the normal sane thing like most posters do and mod and fix your post
12 day’s ago doesn’t really mean anything when the post is still active at the top and is still being widely discussed :o

The post is three below my mistake. your the only one in 12 days that has made this comment, not because the thread was confusing but because I assume that people read all the post. 0.O
and that is three of my post, not to mention the 3 or 4 people that already corrected me.
