I love playing with the UI off.

This game is beautiful and that aspect of Guild Wars 2 is much easier to appreciate without much of the usually-necessary information given via the UI out of the way… however:

There’s no way to know when you need to heal with the UI off.

All I ask is that the reddened border remain with the UI turned off.

Another suggestion I’ve thought about submitting is a third setting when toggling the UI. A ‘minimal UI’ in-between completely on and completely off… a transparent chat window and a simplified party UI made smaller/less opaque and aligned along the bottom of the screen perhaps…

…but that first idea is all I’m really after.

I just want to know when to hit the healing skill with the UI off.

I hate to bump my own posts, but I’d hate even more for this one to go unnoticed. It’s pretty important to me (and I’d imagine to anyone else who plays with the UI off).

Anyone else out there wanna +1 this thing? :\

Yep, you have my vote! I’d like to have an option in the game menu that allows you to turn off everything. Chat, health “ball”, Stamina bars, Initiative “stars” – all of that and replace thse indicators with something more…ummm…neutral.

Reddened borders are good indicators of HP runnin’ low, though I’d add more effects, like: Screen goes gray when you fall to 15-10% of health, and then goes black & white when under 10% of health. Reddened borders may grow in size, limitating your sight. Stuff like that.
There would be issues on how to “naturally” indicate some of the conditions, though. How do I know that I’m Tormented? Or that I’m bleeding or blind, or “revealed” ?
How bout boons, hm? Some are easy to tell, like aegis or swiftness. What about “vigor”, “regeneration”, "protection"etc? Hmm?
Also, how do I check my “initiative” – which is crucial for Thieves! I just need to know how much is left. Next – Stamina/Endurance.
I rely on Evades heavily. You might me a Guardian or a Warrior with Heavy armor, so u don’t need it as much as I do! Sure, Acrobatics and Vigor are allowing me to evade quite often but I need to see when I can do so, coz If I can’t – I’d be wasting time with pushing useless buttons! Wasted time = more damage taken and missed opportunites for counter-attack!
Next is cooldown – again, your build might be signet-oriented, so you’re like: “screw cooldowns anyway” I don’t have cooldowns on weapon skills, so that’s ok, but I need to see my utility and elite skills’ cooldowns! No other option!
I suppose that there are even more issues with that “UI off”, but I support it anyways!
I love minimalistic “UI”, always did, and I’d love to see something like that in Guild Wars 2, because – for example – quests/hints/events notifications are very iritating. Can’t I have a simple mission log/journal/“quests” tab? In which I can choose which of them I want to track?
“New Event Nearby” and circles on the map are enough, I don’t need my whole screen flashing with notifications!
Please, change it!
