I believe each species should have had 3 voices to choose from when creating your character for each gender. Charm, Dignity and Ferocity should have had a voice actor each so that we could have had a little say on what our characters would sound like.

Seeing as this will never happen I hope Anet could add some sort of voice pitcher to affect how your character sounds. I play as a really short but pretty female Norn and I really do dislike the way she sounds all deep and manly.

I like to be completely immersed in the story of my character but the deep voice just does not work with my Ranger. A pitch slider in character creation with the ability to morph the voice slightly could work, what do you guys think?

I’d love the option to choose different voices for characters, but it’s a costly feature that’s not necessary. In other words, it’s not going to happen.

Please re read, I said that is not going to happen. My idea was for a voice pitcher to change how high and low your character can sound, there is plenty of this software online for your own voice and it may not be so hard as you think to create and implement into the game.

I did read it. Given the fact that Scope, an Engineer trait that has been bugged since release (7 months ago), still hasn’t been fixed I can’t help but feel the staff is stretched thin enough as is. Again, I’d love the option to change voices, but I just don’t think they’re going to waste any resources (time, money, or man hours) on voice options of any kind; not when what they already have works well enough.

Something like Soulcalibur V voice customization would be cool!

I think you hit it on the head

  • Time – to record all the voices
  • money – paying for the voice talent
  • hours – between recording and implantation of people that already have characters

Although that is having 3 or 4 presets like in Dragon Age or NWN and so on, what the O kitten uggesting is that they add a Pitch adjuster to the character creation screen. Every race, male and female, have a set voice no matter what, he is asking to put in a modulator to adjust the pitch of that already existing voice. That takes about 3 hours to set into yahoo chat for someone that doesn’t program, I am assuming that would take less than an hour for a programmer.

Also there are a lot of generic voice pitchers that are free, so money really isn’t an option past the money you are paying one programmer ( which they are already being paid to be at work ) to put in. Although maybe it is harder than I think it is, I don’t know but it is a suggestion, no harm in asking

Now For the Cons of this.

What about the players that make their voice the highest pitch to annoy other players. Lets face it we all hope for the prefect playing world for games but there is always a handful of people that regardless will find some way to harass others with this.

So my final comment on this is, I am torn but as of right now I would say no.

Lastly how is Scoped bugged? I use it all the time on my engineer, when I stand still my crit chance goes up by 10% as soon as I move it goes down.

Tests suggest that despite the displayed increase, there is no actual effect.

Weeelll….you didn’t read the OP then.

While I’m sure balance issues and bugs are issues that need to be worked on, resources often are specialized. People that work on bugs and code might not work on audio design, software and code. Saying that a profession skill is bugged and pointing to that as an indication of available resources for audio and voice acting is like pointing out a piece of bad clipping armor and using that as an indication to lack of story writing an lore.

So the guys who develop this is pitcher and implement it seamlessly into the game are also going to develop the new user interface and/or character creation screens where we’re the slider is going to be placed? The guys who internally test all the patches, both bug fixes, profession balances, and new content, aren’t also the guys who will test the new pitcher? None of the guys at ArenaNet work within a vacuum.

Oh well if it is bugged then it should be fixed, although ( no offense to you ) it is suggested not confirmed. If they haven’t fixed the issue ( which would be a large one ) then it is probably not broken and working as intended
