Wahh Wahh my Thief..
People don’t even want to group with them.. its that bad.
barney, the build you use for pvp may not be good for pve. i take my thief everywhere; i soloed exploration of all three orrian domains with her. i sat down at guildhead.com and came up with a build for her that includes about three or four, can’t remember right now, self-heals. basically, she does damage, she self heals. she uses anything with initiative (i.e., everything) she self heals. and so on and so forth.
i actually consider my thief my LEAST squishy character so far, followed closely by my guardian … but that’s just because i built my guardian more for damage than survivability.
oh. and my thief? 0 toughness. yet she excels in survivability.
good luck.
what build are you using? If you don’t mind me asking.
unfortunately, i’m about to head in to work, and i’m not on the computer i had this saved on. however, i will, later, rebuild it for you. just hit guildhead.com, though, and use their skill calculator. i built her so that she did HIGH condition damage, run her with dual daggers and dual pistols, and like i said, i have SEVERAL self-heals built in to her.
lol, i’m also NOT a pvper, but i dally in wvw on occasion. ran across a guardian one day … our battle ended up about six-seven minutes long, and i had the guardian’s health down lower than mine, when the guardian’s buddy the elementalist showed up. either the guardian player sucked, or my build is sufficient for pvp, also … when played well ;-)
i will try to message you her build later. ttfn!
Okay, I look forward to seeing what you have. I have tried a couple builds so far.
People actually like my thief joining them in pve. I don’t see where/who this applies to…
I usually fill the of high dps and taking out a target asap and don’t need anyone to “hold aggro”. Sure I die a few times, no one is perfect. But I find groups easily, and if the dungeon requires I switch to my perma evading thief and simply outlive everyone. (Have on occasion, been the last person standing on my thief and finished a boss off simply because I know what/when to dodge.)
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
You really ned to do something for your thief… L2P.
I have a good friends list with a lot of thieves to call for CoF and CoE runs. And they donĀ“t need nothing more than move, not just keep pressing a key.
I’m having absolutely no problems with my Thief in PvE and dungeons, using 0/30/30/10/0 with S/D, sometimes switching to D/D.

I build full damage on my theif and I earned 100% world completion solo and I also earned Dungeon Master title. Theifs are not under powered in PvE, and their very strong in PvP/WvW. I really don’t understand why people complain about them. Their a hard prof. to use but if you learn to play them properly then you will have insane damage and good survivability.

Its the invisible factor that blows peoples minds. I can play ranger or warrior pvp pve wvw and have no troubles with thief. Really not hard to deal with but atleast 99% of complaints are from people who havn’t done their homework or bothered to ask people how to counter :/

Iv never ever ever ever been rejected from a party when i bring my thief.
I use my full crit/backstab build for fractals and all pve and i hardly ever need support to carry me. In fact theres been a number of occasions when i carry the group, (dredge fractal for example) simply because I can complete objectives without aggroing mobs.
Squishyness doesnt matter when i have mobility and stealth skills.
I created a thief purely for PVE. It is absolutely amazing.
I have 0/30/30/10/0
critical strikes: 3,4,9
Shadow Arts: 1,4,9
Acrobatics: 4
My utility skill are sigil of shadows, shadow refuge, blinding power.
My Elite is normally dagger storm but i use thieves guild if if i know im going into a vet/champ single target.
I heal pretty well, id say almost half of my health
My Armor and Weapons are Berserker and my accessories are Beryl. When i get ascended gear ill add more toughness into the mix.
and i do blind/stealth as much as i can, but i have no problem against veterans or multiple attackers and i rarely die.
Change your build up and see how things go.
Thieves are ok for pve.
Sure they are subpar when you can just run the well known utterly broken warrior/guardian/mesmer party but good thieves still offer incredible dps be it at range or melee, can hardly die and have some good utilities like sr, blinding wall, blinding powder (if fighting trash) or cluster combos (aoe might / heals / etc).
Thiefs do not need buffs for PvE. They are fine. I do Fractals lvl10-16+ with no Agony Resists and I’m fine. If you die too much you need to study the Thief more and start to learn what the Thief is about. Instead of calling for buffs. When I read what you are struggling with it gives me the idea you have no clue playing a Thief. Sorry, but Thieves are fine in PvE.
10/30/30/0/0 Sword/Dagger & Short Bow thief and I have absolutely no problems with anything in pve/dungeons or wvw for that matter, I run the same build all the time.
