Warriors so kitten weak in WvW
http://oakvale.enjin.com
You can’t tank in this game. It wasn’t designed that way. And I believe warriors are weak in WvW due to their strength in PvE. Also, GS isn’t your best option in WvW as the burst (Hundred Blades) roots you in place. Give some of the other melee weapons a try.
Thing is, your suggestion is self-defeating : You pick Tank, they pick Strategist, and you’re back to them dealing you more damage than you can handle.
I’ve played warrior a significant amount in WvW with 2 melee weapon sets (Although I OOC swap in a LB for sieges). Yes, it’s not the strongest class there, but it’s passable.
If you run warrior with 2 melee sets in WvW you’re pretty much going through a meat grinder. I run sword/warhorn out of necessity for the mobility along with a hammer. We have to sacrifice so much to get that mobility, and its not even that good when compared to other classes.
One change that would make me happy is if they could find a way to eliminate the need to get out of combat to switch to a longbow. I think I’d have a lot more fun if I had my sword/warhorn for roaming & mobility, My hammer for when its time to smash into the enemy and my longbow for siege defense and static encounters. Maybe change strong bowstrings calling it “Weapons Master” retaining the extended range for Long bow but also adding the ability to take it as a 3rd weapon.
I also posted an idea for Banner Warriors along the same idea. Make a banner replace your secondary weapon set when picked up. You can swap to mainhand weapon set while holding the banner and its stats still apply. With the new Weapons master trait you could effectively have mainhand weapon set, Longbow and the banner. This would be an extremely popular wvw build without making it too OP.
Dezarys.1372_I run 33k+ hp, 3300+ armor, 2k toughness, and 3200+ attack. _
With all those stats, you shouldn’t be dying at all. I believe you should be godly. I WvW a lot and my warrior has only half those stats and I hardly die (18k hp, 3200 toughness + 2200 attk).
Use a lot of blocks, and I mean a lot! Then play your warrior like an assassin, and you will hardly ever go down. Warriors are designed to take hits, but they are not meat shields; the guardians are. Besides, who wants to run head first in a full battle when over 70% of the enemy army is using range weapons.
Not even gana read the op, cuz I know warrior does pretty well in wvw. Especially if you actually get a group going with them over TS or vent or w/e you use.
Warrior in spvp however is pathetic and needs a rework. Along with just about everything else in spvp.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
Also, if you are playing a tank, why are you using a GS? A GS is a one trick pony that EVERYONE looks for to avoid your only real threat…ana ttack that roots you in place.
Want to tank? I’ve ran sword/shield in wvw and jump right into the thick of it and…gasp… don’t die! Tanks are defensive in nature, not offensive…runnign with a GS is your first problem with the playstyle you chose.
I primarily run dual axes and rifle. Picking off people with the rifle is always hilarious as SO MANY warriors run sword/horn and a hammer or gs…they don’t expect the warrior to be picking away 2-3k a shot from 1200 range. Moment they get in close, swap to the axes and watch them melt thanks to every attack being a 360 degree attack around you forcing them to come into attack range even if it’s from behind you, build to apply bleeds and vulnerability on crits and you just watch them flail and fall. If you are wondering where my mobility comes from, signet of rage and a banner while running alongside a guardian that fills in any downtimes with staff speed boosts.
GS is the glass cannon weapon for warriors, simply having that weapon ensures you are a sitting duck any time you hope to use HB. I find it amusing you complain about being pinned down when the main way GS ever get’s to do it’s damage is to use bolos to pin down the enemy then charge+HB before they can get away. Complaining you get nailed down when it is a huge part of your own weapon build…kind of hipocritical, just saying.
