Arena net I know this is a bold suggestion as its something that might take away from the feel your trying to bring where you try to get people to connect with their characters thru story quests and decisions you make with them.

Dont get me wrong I love being sylvari, but as I’ve leveled I’ve come to realize that in order to really make her look good in armor, it either needs to completely cover all her skin (I’m a warrior) which surprisingly a large amount of heavy armor does not, or I need to stick to the same dye colors in order to make it match and not look…. Dare I say it odd.

I think a way to counter this would be when offering the race change, reset the story quests for the given toon. But while doing so, negate any experience earned from the story quests up till you reach the story quest set for your given level. In doing this the players would still learn and be able to access and navigate through the new races story keeping the essence of the game, without being a way to level easily by constantly doing story quests.

Any feedback on how this would be good or bad is welcome!

Another option is that the consumable only be usable after the racial part of one’s personal story. This shouldnt get in the way of ppl b/c at the point when most want to change is midway to 80.

If you can see this then I broke something badly…

Several concerns:

- NPCs interact with you based on progression of your personal story, race, and faction choice. By changing race, you break personal and race interaction. You may also break faction. If faction is not broken, and end game interaction is 100% race hooked, this may be ok… but I see serious issues
- Racial armor. I see game crashing bugs caused by different races cultural armor equipped when you change.
- All story that you have completed would be invalidated. You can argue away even sex changes with the makeover kit (Tyria has great plastic surgeons it appears), but there is no glossing over races. This breaks a little too far away of what you have accomplished as your character.

The last reason is the only one why I would say no even if this was feasable, but I wouldn’t complain if it happened. I just can’t see a way that wouldn’t be prone to glitches.

There’s one argument that explains kitten well anything, Drawing Guy: Asuran Magitech. Considering many of their researchers have experimented with mind/body interfacing, it should be workable to plop Soul “X” into Body “Y”. Albeit hellishly difficult (i.e. the Gems cost.) That would take care of the … cosmetics … of the matter.
However, I have not yet figured out a way to avoid your technical issues. Armour is the easy one. Could be a part-for-part replacement, considering Karma costs for Cultural Armour are the same across races. It’d also be easier than refunding said Karma, obliterating the Armour, and the player buys a new set. Your points 1 and 3, would definately be the stumbling block.

their P.S.: That could sidestep 1 and 3.
