Serious topic. I really feel like there is no structure to the game and grouping feels really redundant and mechanical rather than a product of the game’s design like in GW1. I just feel like the current zerg mechaincs and marginalization of skills and homogenization of progression and deckbuilding makes the game play very shallow. I’m not asking for WoW, im asking for a game that’s more like GW than Warhammer, DAoC or LoL. I’ve played over 300 hours and the game just feels like issue heaped upon issue. I don’t think the innovations have made for a better gameplay experience over all for MMO gamers. All i see is filler content heaped on, im sitting here wondering when the team is going to take a serious look at changing fundamentals to make the game deeper and more enjoyable for MMO players. Thoughts?

Alternately I worked on beta testing and design of a LoL type-game (it predates LoL by years, NvB for people who know wc3 custom maps). It used the holy trinity but rather than having iron-clad classes they combined 2 classes together. Each character had a primary role and a secondary role.

I think GW2 could have benefitted from a similar approach. Sure you have tanks but tanks have a secondary role such as support which provide emphasis on them as a target due to their support going unchecked doing various things, like AoE movement reduction and stuns (forcing you to fight said character because running is not a option).

More mechanics that encourage team-play and co-ordination over the Trinity would be preferable.

Also, on your comment on ‘making it more enjoyable for MMO players’. Everyone feels different. For every person who wants the Trinity back, you’ll get someone who doesn’t.

Yes, you can have the trinity back. And raids. And mounts. And whatever else I forgot. If Arenanet is going to betray their principles and their customers, they might as well go all the way.

There is no if. It’s on the official sight that the armor will be “slightly more powerful than exotics”. What else do you need to hear?

If we can still get the stats many ways , not only from the dungeon , then Anet kept their promise that we would always be able to get gear many ways.

Adding a new tier over exos on stats was never something they promised not to do. or can anyone link me a place where they said exos would be the top stats tier forever?

IF , the gear is only from the dungeon (which we still need to see) , then there will be plenty to complain about.

well they also promised that at lvl 80 you would not be going around rolfpwning stuff in the lowest lvl areas even… yet you very close to that already in exotics… my lvl 80 purely condition built mesmer (mostly exotics though still need some jewelry and my 2nddary weapon sets), already 2-3 shots mobs in the lowest lvl areas with the puny amount of direct dmg it does… so now i get to kill that stuff even faster?…
