I think we need a giant portal of underworld in order to get to the underworld, the world of dead, shadows, abyss and despair. a hellish nether place where you could see stronger monsters which couldn’t get through the portal because of their massive aura force and strength level which the portals rejected, but their powers are so big that they effect the living world (tyria), gives a boost to zhaitan to duplicate it’s risen, undead and scourge powers. I know my graphic designs are terrible at the PC but I just made some basic idea to make new maps in world. To make new dungeons, jumping puzzles, events, bosses and even fortresses anti shadow corruption air that would be inside giant bubbles to separate it with clear oxygen so can make life and food inside. Players must use an additional upgrade on their head slot to able to breathe in the underworld. A possibility to find Grenth itself there which is trying to hold the gates of underworld closed while rebellions are against him and trying to open it.
Ideas of monsters there: Shadow serpents, insects, mutations, abominations, behemoths, leviathans.
There can be a cool world boss there: Shadow Dragon which will actually will move from place to place and lock players with emerald flame breathe which will take entire screen and knockdown players spreading shadow whips and charging into players with no mercy without any safe spots, and the battlefield will be on few flying rocks which need to jump all the time from one to another and slide on things and actually use tools which are necessary to hit the boss. who falls down to the green rotten toxic will die and can be WPed out of the territory ‘cuz if the event starts the gates of the Shadow Dragon’s territory closes. and players can’t get inside. which will dying players not able to help the others and reduce the chance of winning.

Here’s the deal: in order to go to Cantha, we must go through Elona, which is ruled by Palawa Joko who won’t be too happy about foreigners coming into his country and most likely will have to overthrow his regime. To get to Elona, we’ll have to go through the Crystal Desert which is blocked by Kralkatorrik who we’d have to fight in order to go anywhere south of the Crystal Desert.

Shortcut to Cantha: we could always sail or fly to Cantha via the ocean, but Bubbles is out there somewhere preventing all naval and possibly air travel south of Tyria, so anywhere we want to go is blocked by an Elder Dragon, then by Palawa Joko, and then by the Ministry of Purity in Cantha.

Going north is a suicide mission as both Primordis and Jormag reside there, East is prevented by The Scar, west is the Tyrian Pinensula wherein the 6th Elder Dragon Mordremoth resides, so travel to there is impossible.

I think Ring of fire is gonna be something like Raid level content area, or at least I hope.

Imagine Southsun on roids, but with actual rewards that reward you for effort. To keep the zone playable.

UW maybe, but I’m not a big fan of rehashed content, love the concept but something new in similarity would be great

Colin Johanson have said that they don’t have to follow one story at a time, they can take a pause, continue on another story and then come back to the other story again.

Underworld makes sense as a new zone, it’s in another dimension, not even in Tyria, Elona or Cantha. The living world events isn’t supposed to be predictable, that would be boring as hell. Some things should just pop up from nowhere and surprise us.

A gate to the Underworld opens somewhere and we have to go and discover it, abyss monsters flood Tyria and we have to find the cause to this leak of abyss monsters. Then we might be able to go down into the Underworld, maybe not directly after, they might continue on another story and the Gate to the Underworld is still there to be seen and they will continue on that story later and let us discover the Underworld and what’s inside that gate and dimension.

Solution: space travel. The asura are probably already working on it.

but to create asura get you must visit the other side first and to get to the other side you must first go without an asura gate first. you have to build 2 gates (not 1 and 2nd pops).

While I am all for FoW, and UW, and even other god realms there is an issue here. In GW1, we needed the favor of the gods and then had to talk to one of their avatars to access their realm. The gods are presently MIA in GW2. This presents an issue with ‘getting to’ a god realm, with the exception of Mad King’s tiny corner of Underworld, but even that still required us to open a portal and fight his minions to get through.

Edit: Additional thought, Colin has stated that we will be seeing new zones with the living story. So we have that to look forward to. As for Cantha/Elona, this would be more of an expansion type content, and they haven’t finalized any plans on how they want to do expansions yet.

If you remember GW1, we had to pray to the gods and pay a tithe in order to be transported to the UW or FoW. Since the gods have faded in lore, we aren’t able to return (aside from the 1 day a year when the Mad King is allowed to leave the underworld).

eventually we’ll take on the other elder dragons and get new areas, but it takes time to devel- plan a war.
