I like to run p1 and p2 of CoF every day. It’s a fun dungeon and it’s easy gold and dungeon tokens. However, before I’m able to do a run of CoF with my party, the five players the LFG tool has assembled usually wind up sitting in party for 20 minutes, refreshing gw2state.com just waiting for a single server to have the event open. And even if one server does, sometimes no one in the party can guest, or those who can haven’t run CoF on story mode.

But the point is, I shouldn’t even have to go to a whole other server just to have easy access to a dungeon.

This is an example of ANet creating difficulty/content/value by denying access to other content/value. If this is their way of compensating for how easy p1 & p2 are, it’s a cop-out. Either make the dungeon harder to run, or make the rewards better so people will actually pay attention.

It’s the same as the Temple of Balthazar – inexplicably, the only merchant in all of Tyria who sells Obsidian Shards by themselves for karma is locked away by an event that no one is interested enough to run, thus allowing the laziness of the majority to deny the minority access to something unparalleled in usefulness.

The whole point of a dungeon is that it is instanced, separate from the rest of the world, unlike world events. So why is it that endgame dungeons (CoF, CoE and Arah) are hidden behind a boring meta-event with crap rewards in zones that are boring for meta-events in general? Who’s ever heard of a meta-train in Fireheart Rise? What level 80 goes to Mt. Maelstrom for anything but world completion or the Inquest Golem? Orr isn’t a particularly interesting place to run a meta train anymore either, hence the migration to Frostgorge, a place where the dungeon is open 24/7.

Especially in light of the introduction of the LFG tool, there is really no excuse for stranding players in up to 5 separate worlds, none of which are likely to have endgame dungeon content open. The three dungeons affected by this policy are open on a whopping 10% of worlds at any given time. CoF seems to be far less than that of late. This policy punishes people who choose a server that doesn’t constantly tend to their meta-trains. But obviously since even PvE-heavy servers don’t have them open most of the time, this is symptomatic of a bigger problem. When no servers are enthused about doing your content, it’s time to fix that content.

The people who religiously run meta-trains like Frostgorge are different from the people who really care about running dungeons daily. Linking the two things together because they’re both PvE content is silly, and should be dispensed with.

While at it, give a Roll Swamp button when starting FotM. Its less 10 minutes of arguing who’s gona roll and 10 more minutes of that person constarolling dredge.
Thanks.
