I suggest the addition of elemental/attack type weaknesses and resistances like in pen and paper games such as DnD. For example, it does not make sense that a breath of frost would damage, and even slow down a frost elemental. Or that a gout of flame would affect it as much as any other attack. Or that a stone elemental can bleed, but is resistant to immobilizing strikes and other control effects that rely on physical contact rather than mental conditions [fear and the likes]. Further more, the player that chooses to use a specific type of attack such as piercing (bows. daggers, guns) would be vulnerable to attack types that directly counter their own attack type (such as, once in range, a slash type attack would cause a shooting man to fire more slowly from the bleedings, or an elemental that uses water element would be vulnerable to fire/lightning [mostly lightning due to water being stronger then fire] type damage due to being unprepared for them.). Also using different type of attacks should have a direct counter effect, like using the counter spells and skills (the ones that block and then counter) by simply blocking while attacking. Ex: An elementalist using cleansing wave, should block a fire type attack, or dispel a fire effect from an attack such as the warrior’s smoldering arrow, and changing it to a normal arrow strike (Dual shot with one arrow for example). I feel as if you’d add this change to the game, it’ll improve both it’s combat system’s depth, it would also make it more enjoyable to those who prefer to plan their fights rather then unloading any skill as it goes off of cooldown.
