Weapon skills
+1, weapons are boring with only 5 skills. We want variety!
Essentially yes I would most certainly have to agree. Being able to swap out your weapon skills for different weapon skills, based on your profession.
I dont think the auto attacks should change, but maybe list them as different wielding styles. And you can swap wielding styles for different skills. Well… That would work for things that fought in melee combat mostly.
Just rambling haha, sorry c;
Yeah, this could also open many different build combos with different weapons.
I had hoped that weapon skills would be in this fashion when they first announced the weapon-skill system… but sadly it was not.
I would have been happy with a “choose a layout” build style where each weapon has 3-5 weapon skill layouts to choose from…
For example:
Sword:
Auto, 2-A, 3-A | 4-A, 5-A
Auto, 2-B, 3-B | 4-B, 5-B
Auto, 2-C, 3-C | 4-C, 5-C
Auto, 2-D, 3-D | 4-D, 5-D
Where A, B, C, and D are different skill sets. A might be a Bleed focused build and B might be a power focused build… etc… Auto attack may or may not change with each layout.
Main-hand and Off-hand layout may be chosen separably so you could have Main-hand A with Off-hand B
One very interesting thing that can be used to introduce this kind of mechanics would have “fighting styles.”
In PVE would have a “master” somewhere that should be found and after many missions and obligations to become one of his disciples, he would teach her a fighting style different to that weapon or set of weapons (based on class).
All skilll take much to train and others only begin to be available to train after a specific event that the master requested or something.
The fighting style would be selected alongside the combo weapons (menu “H”). Would like a new set of weapons. (Ex: sword shield: X style, sword shield: Y style).
Another interesting thing is that some teachers teach only one weapon, that is, with the sword in the main hand X style you would have 3 specific skill and the off-hand would have other 2 skills. That would take a combination of styles: main hand sword, and shield style X off hand, style Y. Other master teach a couple of weapons (eg dagger pistol +), then you can use somenteas classes could learn, of course you should have at least a master for each unique combination of each class (for not having mimimi). These styles were very specific and would work only in the correct order that the master taught, only use a weapon would not be allowed. (Ex: the master teaches sword + pistol. If you tried to use dagger + something else, it would not be possible to use the style learned (even though with a dagger). Inverter not would not be possible (gun + dagger).
And there balancing, heheeheh
That would bring diversity to the game and the future forms of gameplay. And to top it off, a future could increase an “evolution” in the skills of each style, or sword main hand, Style X, 2nd skill could “learn” a new more powerful way to use that skill through trait specific to that weapon / skill / fighting style.
An idea of ??these options increase exponentially for PVP and give a cumbersome problem for the “balancers” of Anet …. heheheh
The essence of quintessence warrior adapted to Guild Wars 2. : P
I absolutely agree we need more weapon skills and utility skills as well. My idea is for every 2H weapon like hammer, greatsword we could choose from 15 skills, for main hand weapons like swords, scepters we would have 10 skills and for off hand weapons like torch, warhorn or sword in offhand we would have 5 skills. This change would help us to have more control over our character.
And for the implementation in game:
Current system of unlocking weapon skill seems fine to me, so I would use him. There would be default skills, which are now in game and if we choose some other skill, we would replace one of currently active, through combat it will be unlocked and we can use it as any other weapon skill. This would also help in situations where we want some skill in the different place.
This would be great to implement into the game because it would feel like it’s more of our character. Don’t get me wrong I love this game in every way but this system would give so much more variety in pvp and wvw.
Maybe anet could use the same system at the beginning where you have to gain so much experience to unlock the skills for your weapons, only with this you could have where you say your level 20 and more skills become available for your weapon (2 for two handed weapons and 1 for one handed weapons) and it would go up in tiers for every 10 or 20 levels!
This would be a great system that wouldn’t be complicated to implement into the game and very easy to understand!
Again I love this game but this is a slight change that could make all the difference to end game and strategy for pvp and wvw.
Then again I can see people making all there skills support and become a type of healer class which would defeat the purpose of no trinity but I’m sure the guys at anet could make this system shine for us players that would love to see it in the game!
This could work, push GS weilders from using the same 4 skills and just being repetitive. However like Anet has said in their videos, they need to fix what is already here before expanding. I am 100% on board for new weapon skills, but the current ones have balance issues atm and some are… well plain useless.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
