Well couple of us people were having a discussion on map chat about new weapons and weapons that currently exist but classes that would make sense to have on, don’t. Gw2 seems it’s all about choices but it feels like there aren’t enough.

I want to keep this thread for discussion so please do not flame each others opinions or mines. Lets keep it clean

Here we go. So the list will be in class categories.

Starting off with Warrior:
One handed spear. This would be very awesome looking and nice. It would be melee for warrior. I don’t got any ideas for the auto or 2 skill but the 3 skill could be a spear throw that pierces targets and causes bleeding and cripple? It would look pretty nice and people can go for that Sparta look or so. It could feature 250-300 range for auto and 2 skill.

Great Spear/Two handed spear: Would be nice looking and feel nice. I haven’t played many games where they had two handed spears but the ones that did always felt like they were lacking something so if Anet makes it I hope it is entertaining. It could feature 300-350 range and have a throw attack similar to the one handed except it does a pierce knock back. It could be on par in DMG with GS so people get more choices for two handed dps rather then most of the DPS people being GS users. Would be a great break and nice to fight against rather then the typical GS warrior.

Crossbow: Why is this not in the game! It would be so awesome. It could feature 1000 range and have pierce auto attack or a trait i guess but it would be nice. Poison tipped bolts or exploding bolts so many choices.

Halberd/two handed axe: Seen some posts of this and i think it would be a good add. 200-250 range with some nice DPS. Could be another alt for the two handed users out there tired of GS.

Lance: Why not? would be freaking awesome to have a charge attack that runs through foes knocking them to the side while you run through. Could be the burst attack for it wink wink

Guardian:
1 Handed Spear: Ranged spirit holy thingy attacks. Why? Because scepter is a funny joke and staff well.. lets not hurt its self esteem. Could have a 2 skill like the underwater spear that does the hits. Like the spear hits but spirit spears shoot out where the spear attacks. Same as warrior spear range 250-300.

Great spear/two handed spear: melee spear with a ranged spear throw AOE that burns targets in the area it lands. Blast finisher type deal. Could be an AOE symbol type weapon. Features a 300-350 range?

Off hand sword: Would be cool like a block when hit gives an AOE heal and pushes target back. Straight line pierce attack for 5th skill like the sword 3 but you thrust the sword through your target and a spirit blade pierces through. Pierce skill could have a range of 400-500?

Lance and halberd could fit nicely with the guardian but i cant think of any skills for em. What do you guys got on these 2?

Ranger:
Sword main hand: Auto attack needs to not root in place. I think this is a big turn off for most players that would like to use sword but avoid it because of the root in place of the auto.

Sword off hand: could stay true to the main hands purpose and have mobility skills.

Javelin: They are rangers and rangers need to hunt to eat too right in the spiritual jungle and stuff. Would be great at 600-700 range featuring DPS. For those people that keep calling rangers hunters, well if they add these I’m sure rangers will have lots of fun hunting people down.

Crossbow: Would fit right in with the theme the ranger has going on. 1000-1100 range? With built in pierce.

Main hand dagger: I don’t know if anyone suggested this yet but it could be another DPS build type or a condition type or well both who knows. Would be interesting what do you guys think?

Thief:
Two handed spear/halberd/or some sort of pole-arm weapon. Ive seen this come up quite a few times so il just put it out here. 200-300 range since it is a thief and not a warrior or guard.

Rifle: Sniping thieves why not. It’s like the two were meant to be. Range would be at 1000 though so it doesn’t get over powered.

Axes: Would fit right in. Bleed type weapon? or just straight up savage thief DPS ownage.

Crossbow: A nice bow type with decent dmg at 1000 range. Would fit in and be like a hunter type assassin thing goin on with it.

Off hand sword: Could fit in with its elusive theme. Sword/Sword 3 could be like a leaping whirl skill that doesn’t give the combo finisher of either. 4 could be a sword throw that immobilizes enemy 5 could be stealth skill. Not too sure what the skills could be so whats your guys opinion.

Engineer:
Mace/one handed hammer: Fits with the engineer thing. It could have skills that buffs turrets so there can be viable turret builds. Just a thought but would fit right in.

Elemental:
Bow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How about a bowmage it would be so kitten amazing. I think it would have to be longbow. It would fit at 1000 range with elemental skills. Would be so awesome. I would seriously make an ele if this was to happen as of now i hate being an ele. Which is why i have been avoiding to play it.

Necromancer:
Hammer: I’m sure at least someone has thought about this after getting smacked by the TA hammer knights that look like hammer necros. The way those knights are it would be a cool add for hammer necros.

Mesmer:
Main hand pistol: Also seen a lot of threads on this and it would fit in with the duelist style it has going on for it.

Main/Off hand dagger: Would fit in with this class since its about deception and eluding your enemy as much as possible. Could feature high DPS on close range.

Whips(as suggested by Altariel)- One handed weapons for warrior/guardian/thief/ranger/ele and mesmer.

Well these are all of the types of weapons we talked about and the types that have been mentioned all around the forums. They could be great adds for freshening the game up enormously. The more choices the more fun people can have and the less bored people will get of fighting the same type of weapon users with the same old boring weapon types that certain classes are almost forced to use.

So now the big question is will these ever get put in the game? Also what are your guys opinions/thoughts on this list. Feel free to list your own as well because discussions are good.

I created a topic hours ago asking to make whip and chain type with this move.
Very fun and i really will enjoy have one weapon like that.

Some npc from nightmare court use whip skills … i want u.u
I think many prof can use it, ele, mesmer, warrior, guardian, rogue and hunter

i like the sugestion to mesmer pistol mainhand and mage with bow
And i love the mesmer trident skills i hope one day have similar skills on the ground.

Oh yeah almost forgot about whips. I can see it fitting all the classes you listed. Would be nice one handed weapons aswell.

LOVE these recommendations. Personally, the weapon type suggestions I’ve wanted to see the most are:

greataxe: warrior, ranger
polearms: warrior, guardian, necro, ranger
flails: warrior, guardian, thief, necro
whips: mesmer, thief, elementalist, necro
fist weapons/sap/blackjack: thief, engineer, mesmer, necro
and crossbows: thief, engineer, ranger, elementalist

Speaking of a lack of weapons, I REALLY think that the Engie desperately needs a redesign, too. Put the kits in f2-f4 OR put one kit on hot-swap with the ~ key instead of taking up 7-9 with what are essentially your only other weapons. The only options for regular weapons being pistol, rifle and shield is ridiculously limiting.
