Q:
Why can’t we use dyes on weapons? It is a very simple question yet there is no answer to it. We have over 400 dyes in the game and tons of armours yet only few weapon sets in specific colours. I wold love to have a black-orange mystic weapon set for my thief, or red nightmare weapon set for my warrior, or even black orrian weapons for my necro. Unfortunatelly, it’s not possible and most likely will never be. Using different dyes on weapons was possible in GW1, why GW2 took a step backward in this section?
And before you write an explanation:
There are weapons sharing the same skins.
Then re-model them, or simply add some particles to make them look different, even by small detail.
Legendary/elemental weapons would look odd in different colour combinations.
Agree. Making them impossible to dye (like achievement armor parts) would be understandable here. Some weapons could have parts which could not by dyed, im fine with that.
Some weapons have particle effects.
They could change colours according to the main weapon colour
And here are some examples on how some current weapons could look if dyeing was possible:

I like this, I would love to have daggers for my Thief that maybe looked like they were bood-stained. Maybe they could even go so far as to add collor sections for the edges/tips of blades separate from the main blade?
Im all for it, even if 80% of weapons only the hilt was dye-able, i see no downside
