Weather in Tyria
Weather changes offer quite a bit of realism. Queensdale is under heavy rain and lightning when the player starts as a human. For new players this signals a rich and convincing world.
However, actual game play differs. Players meet static weather. Rain in areas such as the Tamini camps in southeast Queensdale is a change… but it seems like lazy map handling: “It rains where the centaurs live… all the time. There’s your weather change. Now leave us alone.”
Temperate zones: Rain, storms, overcast skies should be common.
Frozen zones: Intermittent snowfall with occasional squalls that kick up snow making visibility limited for a few seconds. Possibly a blizzard?
Tropical zones: Hard to imitate a heat wave, but haze is possible, tropical rains, etc.
Technically everything seems in place to offer these.
Ideally season changes would be great. Realistically it would take hundreds of man hours to pull off. But yeah some of Nix Vixen’s example seem good, or at least relatively easier to implement.
