Weather is wasted

All I know, is if it rains, …zombies!
But yeah, I agree, weather needs to happen even if an event doesn’t. I miss a good ole thunderstorm or light rain on a nice after noon to break up the SSDD syndrome.
What’s really needed is dynamic weather and synchronised day/night cycles for the zones. Shaemore’s been crying out for a bit of rain since the Centaur invasion!
This sounds like a great idea to me. Rain, fog, storms, etc. add a nice touch once in a while. Doesn’t have to happen every day, but once in a while would be enough.
Wait, what’s this about the day/night cycles? Are they not in sync between zones? That’s bizarre. Guess I never noticed it before…
It’s a rather normal and common feature in most games, and older ones as well. When I played GW1 I always found it silly how there were random sun rays that were there regardless of the light source or scripted weather. It saddened me to see it’s the same in GW2. There should be snow, rain, hail, sandstorms and wind occurring randomly anywhere in any zone, not just in bits of certain zones. For example, walk down 1 path in Sylvari starter zone, sun. Take 2 steps up one hill, suddenly sky turns gray and starts raining, the whole color scheme changes. Walk 2 steps back and poof, sun again.
I’m not gonna lie it’s extremely stupid. Even ancient games like baldur’s gate have random weather effects

Even FFXI had weather effects, and some were quite impressive for their time. Like snow storms in Fauregandi that literlly made moving very scary (before they raised the 75 cap). Mount zhaylom (would be basically our Mount Maelstrom) heat waves that made mirages of enemies and made you feel the heat in it’s own little way. Sand storms in Valkurm dunes that blurred vision. It wasn’t super detailed, and graphics were no where near what they are today and yet it made zones feel alive (the zone itself not the events/enemies in the zone). It’s sad to see that so little has been done here in terms of weather except for Dredghaunt cliffs and some places in lornar’s pass which were awesome.

sudden snow/dust storms would be an awesome addition also.

I did play Aion a bit and it also had a nice little addition, your character would react according to the weather effects which was a cool thing.
For example, if it started raining, your char would take out a giant leaf and hold it above her head like an umbrella, in snowy areas you would shiver/admire the snow, and in desert/hot areas your char starts to get annoyed by the heat and tries to cool down with fans. It really means nothing gameplay wise but it ads a really nice touch of your character being a part of the environment itself.
We have them a lot in Phantasy Star Online 2, and they cause passives to be placed on enemies when they occur. For instance, in a magnetic storm in the desert, machines are less powerful (slightly.) But visibility is severely reduced to just several meters in front of you. Often times, this is coupled with dynamic events where you have to use your minimap to root out the mobs / etc.
So I agree, GW2 needs it too. Heck, PSO2 is free to play.
Yes yes yes! If there’s a thunderstorm, there’s a 0.0001 chance that you’ll get hit by lightning. And for your troubles, you’re rewarded a precursor.
On a serious note, I would love to see weather effects as you suggested. It would be a great tweak to the game. And if they do implement it, I would love to see weather specific events like herding cows to a safe spot from the storm, fight a twister that’s actually a wayward elemental, or help out clear a flooded basement by using a bucket.
There could also be dynamic events according to the weather like rescue someone from a mud slide caused by the rain or something along those lines.

I would laugh if that actually got added, think of how many more botters would sit in thunderstorms just waititng to be hit XD. But seriously the weather system is lacking, aside from a few events that weather up a storm you just don’t feel like Tyria is a world as much as an enclosed sandbox. Events and npcs sure do bring life to Tyria but it needs to be breathing and feel more alive imo.

i think when time came they felt lazy i noticed it after lvl 40 the content were how should i put it reused too often not enough differences and or mobs just got ridiculously harder to even explore the nature.
NIce to see so many peeps want to see these as well
:)

I would love to have dense fog in PvP. It creates an unsettling atmosphere, similar to driving in the fog. Heavy rain would have the same effect, like how rain creates an interesting dynamic in an NFL game.
