"When a beta isn't a beta...."
Why don’t you read and summarize the points to all of us….
i don’t think gw2 is a beta…

I think you’re article says the exact opposite of the point you are trying to get across.
1) it says that these games “Neverwinter” specifically was a game that was released while saying it was in beta, this was done by selling in game items to customers while giving the excuse that it was in beta still to avoid criticisms.
2) Gw2 does not says its in beta so basically this whole article was wrong and it’s highlighted in the article when they say "On the other hand, games that use Minecraft-like models such as Steam’s Early Access program (where a paid pre-order grants access to early, in-development versions of the game) don’t evoke the same reaction. Those are clearly communicated as unfinished, generally have specific launch dates in sight, and players get the full game for their money whenever it comes out. " This applies to the way GW2 was released you could buy the game before release and have access to all the beta weekends up to the time the game would be released…So maybe I’m wrong here but I’m guessing you’re trying to say GW2 is still in beta, and if that is the case I don’t see how this article supports your theory, in fact I think it goes against what I believe you to be saying.

At least for the Mac client, it’s still advertised under the label “Beta”, and that is just wrong. They did not create a proper native Mac client; they used a wrapper similar to Wine which makes Windows programs somewhat able to run on Mac. That makes everything buggy as hell, and if the game does manage to work, you only get a fraction of the FPS as you would in a native client.
That got many Mac gamers kitten ed. They were advertising for a buggy, faulty client that’s not even native. Who does that??? But it’s all falsely under the label “Beta” to avoid criticism or to snag a few bucks. Anyone can take a glance on the Mac forums and see the dissatisfaction.
I will just redirect to the following linked thread. Anet needs to drop the misleading label of Beta, as it’s not a “Beta” and has no room to possibly improve because of their decisions.

Alright I would have to agree then if that function still says it is in beta then I would have to agree with you, I don’t own a Mac so I didn’t realize that it was still in beta.

GW2 is not in beta.
Arenanet/NCSoft are in not any way required to support non-windows platforms. If they decide to build a Mac/Linux/Unix Client that’s different, and that would be a value-add to make ‘those’ customers happy.
If you play games on a Mac, or some Distro of Linux/Unix, you are expected to be able to troubleshoot/deal with bugs and other issues on your own (that’s how the open/GNU community operates).

That article has a vise-versa. In GW2’s case, they pushed an incomplete BETA to a “released” status and then refuse to do any major polishing because beta is over. They somehow believe their game is good2go and that taking feedback isn’t necessary. The point is exactly how you stated it and anet isn’t exempt.
Now it might not be a fully released game with a beta label but it definitely needs more polishing. I would say its more of a beta with a released label.
