When do we get our own portrait and...
I would like this to happen as well, but I don’t see it happening. It’s little things like this that make the game seem like complete crap because it’s unpolished. I was actually looking for the option to see my own name yesterday, and when I couldn’t find it I almost deleted GW2. (I was having a rough day).
I would love to see my own portrait. I would also love to move elements of the UI around.

TBH i’m reasonably happy with the UI set up, but ofc options and flexibility are always good in a game. But as far as portraits are concerned, it really needs to be added in and it’s high time for it to happen. I would gladly forgo an installment of LS for this feature as it is something you’re constantly reminded of or lack thereof.
When i think of games like Lotro, a fairly old game now, their character portraits are really nice with so many options, where you can resize them, move them and even add different frills and borders around them. So not having none in gw2 is a real disappointment for me.
I would like to see the UI be more modular, because as it is I can’t see on my right side, and so can rarely actually ever see the minimap. It makes navigating a literal headache.

I don’t want my own character portrait. If they ever add it (which I hope they don’t) I hope we’ll have the option to remove it
I make PvP & WvW videos

I really don’t understand why you wouldn’t want one but to me without your char portrait the game feels weird and too incognito for my liking.

Ugh that would make things difficult indeed. I hope so too that if they add one, it will be customizable in any way one wishes. One can always hope lol.
It is something so basic to self identity and it should have been there since launch.
No please, stop. Do you sometimes forget how your character looks or what his name is? You stare at your character’s back all the and can change the camera position all the time, isn’t that enough?
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
The whole point of the team UI is to give you information to help your team. You can always see when you’re losing health and what conditions and boons you have. The idea is to be able to see the team’s information, so you can heal or rez or buff or remove conditions.
The amount of extra screen real estate taken up by your portrait is neither helpful nor, to me, desirable.
I want to see my own name and title, don’t really mind the portrait though, still, it’s the little things that make good games epic, I want the login screen from beta back.
Is currently emotionally unstable because Breaking Bad is over

But thing is i doubt this is unpolish, more like Gw2 devs had a clear vision of what they wanted the AI to look like and show and that is what we got.
Ofcourse they could listen to feedback and improve though, but your almost delete is the most idiotic reason i have ever heard how the kitten does any game keep a customer like you around!?
I thought this thread would be about the ghostly white forums which occasionally get bloodstains on them.
I am disappoint.

i agree with the op.
i would like to see my information as per others.
I think I know the reason:
The server cannot handle all different types of avatars, it cost way too much calculation for their servers.
If they added this feature you would probally get input lag when you want to write stuff on the forums
I’m not all that fond of the team portraits. I like the simple and efficient team window we have in Guild Wars (and had in City of Heroes). Maybe I’m just old fashioned.

Like I said, I was having a rough day. And Anet made the UI exactly how they wanted it to look… Like complete garbage. Even if it was their original intent to make it look like that, it’s still unpolished like many, many other things in the game. I came from Wow where I could literally customize anything on my screen with addons or options from the settings. You have to understand how annoying it is when I think about something as simple as showing my own name not being available in the options when I look for it. Or moving my health orb or minimap wherever I want. Or customizing the chat even. On that day, I looked for about 7 of those options that I had in wow, and when I didn’t find them then that is when I almost ragequit.

You could do it in GW1 as well. Move and drag to expand things on the UI to how you wanted it to be the most efficient for you. A couple of times I even nearly started a thread on GWGuru asking to see everyone’s layouts because no two screenshots were the same.
I’m a minimalist and all I want on my screen is chat, skill bar and toggle-able mini-map. Anet on the other hand want this for us…

Agreed. having a second copy of your health, conditions and boons on screen would just take up space unnecessarily. As would having a picture of your character – surely you know what your own character looks like already?

We have an unremovable long orange XP bar (after 80, why?), a pointless raggedy border and of course the infamous top right part. Anet like adding unnecessary clutter so I’d say the OP is in with a chance :P
