Where are the town clothes?
I completely agree. Ideally, I would love to see tailors craft them. Realistically though, it would probably be a gem shop purchase. There is nothing that I would buy in the gem shop right now. Adding some town clothes seems like a simple way to generate revenue and make the players happy.
If they are going to introduce a large number of town clothe, then instead of buying a single “copy” of it for each character, we should get account based “blueprints”. Then give us dedicated storage/inventory where we can store all these new blueprints.. Finally, create a tailor NPC (like the festival hat guy) who can make us a set of the unlocked town clothe for a few copper/silver..
Otherwise, I have no reasonable way to manage soul-bound town clothe for 8 characters.
The answer is simple:
Town clothes as feature were by far not so important to be fully implemented right on the start on, just like they have teased us too with all those minigames GW2 should have, where they mentioned some stuff for divinity reach ect. and which aren’t all in the game, just because they weren’t important enough for anet to be in the game right from the start on..
They will come later as part of content patches or from every now and then as part of monthly events ect..
Kind of sad I know, because personally I am also one, who has expected to see alot more of these kind of things right from the start of the game being implemented and not as something, that gets slowly feeded to us in tiny packages every now and then, because anet gives them a low priority over alot of other things that come first to them…
I just don’t understand why they would pull content like town clothes from the release when they were already in beta. Everything that’s needed is right there, anet just needs to implement it! I don’t care how they do it, I just want it!!! Gem store, hidden NPC conversations, gold, crafting, or anything!
pls
I distinctly remember it being mentioned that the clothes worn by NPCs around the various capitals would be available to players via vendors scattered around the cities.
Come launch, those vendors are nowhere to be found and the town clothes themselves aren’t even available on the gem store. While I do appreciate the joke items for those who want that sort of thing, I’d really like to get out of my plate armor sometime and not be in a seasonal Wintersday coat or dressed up as a witch or chef or pirate.
There’s a lot of great models already made and compatible with player characters, so why not let us have them? Entirely new content (e.g. the Wintersday outfit) is all well and good, but let’s also get the stuff that already exists available to us as well.

I would love to see this implemented. Any which way, just let us get our hands on all those snazzy outfits!
My Asura’s feet are cold and he doesn’t even want to know what he just stepped in.. Seriously, the Skritt’s around Lion’s Arch could stand to learn a few manners.
while it seems to me that arenanet only staggers gem store releases like town clothes or even rename kits in order to maximize profits, a shrewd business move on their end, i’d really like to see more of the mundane, NPC varieties distributed more organically throughout the world somehow. holiday outfits and joke items are fine too and I look forward to seeing what more have yet to come, but something more subtle and down-to-earth available for regular in-game currency would be great for the roleplayer in all of us.
maybe make it a subset of tailoring or leatherworking, who knows.
yeah i agree i would like to see the crafting ability to have some sort of “fluff” crafting, maybe the tailor could craft clothes, while the leather worker and the armor smith could craft “ceremonial” armors.
i would also like the ability to craft toys.
i mean i support the gem store, but there should be some alternative maybe for less fancy things

ANet promised a lot of things in and around launch and very few have been seen. Instead they’ve come out with content releases that favor the PvP/PvE aspect of the game and nothing as far as RP goes. I get that in the grand scheme of things, the RP community is really only subject to 2 servers out of dozens, but we’re the most loyal. Give us town clothes, housing and furniture we can sit in…and lock down.
TESO and a slew of other games are coming out later this year/early next, I would hate for ANet to lose a bulk of their community to these other games when quick adjustments can be made and PvP/PvE content patches could be more spread out.
Lastly, all I have to say is Quaggan Backpack. SMH

I’d be happy just to hear from Arenanet what their actual plans are for town clothing.
I’m really tired of my warrior lady being in armour all the time when the only alternative is a cutesy skirt that doesn’t suit her; I’d love to wear the baggy trousers popular around Divinity’s Reach for example, but I can’t.
I would gladly pay for these things. Anet is not letting me throw my money at them.

I second this, yeah.
It would be very nice to get an official word on this. Again, the textures and the models for the stuff we’re asking for is already there. Just give us that, the ‘mundane’ town pieces seen everywhere.
Town clothes got turned into FotM.
Yeah I find the lack of town clothes strange. Keeping fancy outfits in the gem store is understandable (although selection is limited at the moment), but there should be several pieces of normal town clothes in game like t-shirts and pants available from merchants. We need more variety!
I agree!!!!! They need to make it official!
