First. adding a new tier pidgeonhole players into a specific build. If they want to be flexible, they have to be sub-par. sPvP is fun not because they have to grind every equipment but because everything is handed to them. They have the freedom to choose whatever build they want. Ascended Gear will encourage only one build forever. It will be boring to stay as a GS and axe/shield warrior forever.

Second, it won’t satisfy the pro- gear grind players at all. All it will do is give them a reason to grind for 1 week to get another weapon/armor set then they will complain that there is nothing to do.

It helps no one and hurts everyone. Reconsider this. Do this for the no gear grind philosophy.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,

For all we know, Ascended gear won’t have inherent orbs. They might just have an infusion + an upgrade slot.

Secondly, it’s going to be time-gated.

What he doesn’t like is the time it takes to make each set will make it very hard to change builds and maintain optimal gear.

I disagree. Currently, it’s easy to test your build with green items. Once you are confident in your build or actually enjoy it, then you work on the Exotics. The greens are about 1000x cheaper than their Exotic counterparts.

This means that when Ascended gets released, you’ll have time to test the build with greens, then work towards Exotics (optional), THEN get the items in Ascended, all while working towards the Ascended items.

Greens would only work as well as writing it on a piece of paper. Places more impact on your trait stats and boons than there would be in a build with better gear and you’ll under perform in wvw.

While you will underperform a full exotic build, the difference is ~22% of stats.
Primary stats will have 60 more points if you went full exotic vs masterwork.
Secondary stats will have 40 more points if you went full exotic vs masterwork.

So unless 60/40 in a stat is going to make or break you, I’d suggest re-thinking your “Everything MUST be max stat or I’m useless!” mentality.

Overall, yes you are losing out on 140 stats, but when you have an average of 1500 in each stat (not including Healing Power/Condition Damage/Critical Damage/Condition Duration/Boon Duration). If you actually do the overall math on it, you’re only losing out on 2.33% of your total stats (average of 6000 stats in a full build, so 140 / 6000).

Stat loss is 293 on major and 145 per minor with current exotic/ascended mix. That’s 583 total points from the 3951 stat points you can get from traits and gear. Then there’s putting runes/sigils in your green gear and having to pay to get them back.

What am I missing, what am I doing wrong with my Ascended accesories?

I have poundered along time to iether get me an ascended ring for my Engi or my Guardian, since it does so little difference…

I think it was something like +8, +10 in stats for each accessory, and if I use a Defencive or Offencive WvW infusion i get +5 and that is +75 for five accessories, I don’t farm FotM so I don’t even bother for the backpiece but that has the most boost and from what I have seen on wiki it seems it about most +50?

I am doing something realy wrong since i don’t get these numbers thats so important…

Well in the far streach it will do a little more difference but I can’t imagine that just becouse there is an Ascended gear it will mean you have to get it or you are dead or ascended gear build is much greater than Exotic build so it renders the exotic build useless, just go with exotic for your alternative build until you get your second Ascended.

I hope you don’t want a new Legendary for all your builds too.

I don’t like the Ascended idéa iether from the beginning but it’s not that horrible as long as they don’t increase level cap or comes up with a nother tier after Legendary.
