It is really discouraging to keep spending a lot of time and money on WvW now for one reason.
I spend a ton of money and waste a lot of the servers supplies to cover keeps and towers from head to toe with defensive siege weapons(cannons, arrow carts, trebuchet, ballistas,etc) only to see it has all dissapeared the next morning I log in to check on the keeps, this was very angering and frustrating after putting enough defense to repel a huge army it all just dissapears?!

This has been discussed by a dev during the betas saying all siege weapons dissapear after 30 minutes of nobody using it, this IMO is very unrealistic for a “next gen mmo revolution” I was trying to build up a strategic detterence so that we can make enemy attackers go through all hell to capture the place and make them really have to plan together and attack from far with trebs instead of blindly rushing the gate and actually keep some of our buildings instead of playing a never ending ping pong. If the U.S military were to build a mounted machine gun on a base in the middle east to counter any future attacks from the Taliban or Al Qaeda will that gun dissapear in 30 minutes if nobody uses it??? A next gen realistic mmo should use some real life examples instead of following old console game mechanics.
Request: make all siege weapons remain on the battlefield indefinently until destroyed by an enemy server counter siege or ground fighters.

This game already has more gold sinks than most mmos currently, also it would create more when a server tries to attack something they will have a lot of repair costs thanks to all the siege that remained, and attacking servers would also have to spend a lot on more siege weapons knowing they cannot attack from close range.

There’s a cap on siege deployed at a time (Because lets face it, 20 arrow carts beats almost anything).

Without it despawning, you’d end up with people being unable to deploy anything. To say nothing of the issues with people trolling by dropping rams in the middle of nowhere.

Without it despawning, you’d end up with people being unable to deploy anything. To say nothing of the issues with people trolling by dropping rams in the middle of nowhere.

Solution: make the cap by proximity.
No more than x amount of siege within x amount of yards from each other and far enough so every tower/keep can have enough.
plus most siege weapons layed outside of keeps and towers do not generally last very long they are destroyed within minutes by the enemy, some longer if lucky.
also seperate the cap by the type of siege weapon, x amount for trebs, ballistas,etc

Why are we still talking about this, they have a 30 minute timer on them.

Meaning, I use it for an hour in a half I leave and no one uses it for 30 minutes Poof Skritt stole your shiny.

You use it for 2 hours leave for 20 minutes come back start using it for another 2 hours it will still be around. it de spawns after 30 minutes of no one using it. Not seeing how this is a problem.

This is just another form of gold sink

It is unrealistic and a big immersion killer, If I want to build defence and detterence on a structure for people to use it they should still be there in the morning unless it was destroyed by the enemy overnight.

I hate that argument I really do, Immersion killing is the fall back argument of just about everything on this forum.

This is a game plain and simple there will be some aspects of the game that are done for control factors ( like gold sinks ) and balance issues, that will ruin game immersion.

This is a form of a gold sink weather you agree with it or not, you want to keep your Siege equipment around have someone use it every 20 minutes and whala you have a permante siege weapon.

I just said this will create more of a gold sink. it will increase the number of repairs for people attacking buildings and will encourage more long range siege attacks instead of close range attacking the gate, people will spend a lot on multible siege weapons to attack something from far knowing they will get grinded into dust if they try to attack from close.

then you also ruin the Resource system, one of the ways to take over a keep or castle is to cut off their resources and wait out the enemy. You can wait out the Siege weapons and then they will not have enough resources to repair the wall and re build siege.

Your suggestion makes it so that cutting off resources does nothing besides prolonging an assault because people have 2k resources to fix the walls.

Just not seeing the whole de-spawning a problem. Like I said use the siege every 20 minutes and it will not go away. I have literally used a siege weapon for 4 hours holding down a point.

I dont see how this will change the resource. whenever a place is under attack the supplies of that structure tend to be depleted much quicker because everyone is flocking there to defend and picking up supplies.

Also, you need your fellow players involved in refreshing siege. If I’m checking out a tower’s walls I’ll refresh everything before I move out. If I’m running supplies from a keep to another I’ll refresh a few things at a time. Inner stuff on keeps is used much less often so needs more diligence. I’ll do more refreshing if it’s very late at night since it’s more likely only me doing so.

When did I say siege weapons should be removed? I just dont want them to dissapear in 30 minutes. and I’ll say it again….doing this will create double if not triple the gold sinking in WvW.

Actually having quaggan lightning specifically target siege would allow for it to remain without a timer, but make the quaggan camps a higher priority target. Problem solved. Ty for your anti-idea lol.

This is why they have the timer. Nothing annoys me more then running through a forest and seeing a random flame ram by a tree. Next time don’t waste your time and money since you need defenders to work siege anyway. Who knows, these places your putting siege on are probably trading hands a few times as servers assault them. It may not even be despawn related.
