We will soon be salvaging blue and green items for ESSENCES OF LUCK which will add to our account-wide Magic Find until it reaches a maximum of 300%.
So far, through a year’s worth of achievement points, I imagine that most people are sitting at around 4% account-wide Magic Find. ANet has stated: In order to get everyone started on this new system, all current players will receive enough luck to get to +20% magic find.
PLEASE! Do not let our 4% be for nothing! Give us a true +20% so that we have 24%. Don’t just boost us all to 20 like the mostly-useless Birthday Scrolls of Experience. Shouldn’t I be ahead of somebody who just bought the game last week? I know 4% isn’t much to complain about, but there’s a principle involved here.
They are going to send you a consumable in the mail that you use to boost your magic find. So if you have 4% and they give you a consumable that gives an additional 20%, that should give you 24%.
She seemed a little fuzzy on the details. Looks as if each purple Essence of Luck grants about 5% Magic Find, so every existing player should get four.
Supposedly.
What I wonder about is, does the cap affect only the Magic Find gained from essences or from all sources?
If it’s the latter, the MF gained from total achievements will mean nothing once you reach 300%, as will the other bonuses that remain available (Guild and Infusion for instance). I do hope these bonuses are above the cap.
I assume the cap is the cap. Hard to say how long it will take people to get to 300. Probably quite awhile for casual game players. Not so long for hard core farmers.
This cap doesn’t make sense to me. Why make a cap at all, when it lies in the hands of anet still how they can set up the drop chances for items…
+300% for something that gets by anet a drop chance of 0.00000001% or so is still then just 0.00000003% only
ANet doesn’t need to fear any kind of player by getting so much MF, that they would get basically everything in the game with a 100% drop chance, whats just impossible as long Anet just keeps permanently the overall drop chances for items extremely low enough that MF can’t affect them too much to change very rare drops with 300% MF into something ultra common instantly …
I’d really like to hear an explanation of one of the developrs responsible for the upcoming patch, whats the reason exactly for this cap.
It does look totally unplausible to me to grasp the reason behind of that decision, when Anet can always freely decide the drop chances for items as they like it.
