World PvP
Only if there an opt-out or if it’s server-bound and there are non-PVP servers. There are people (like me) that don’t like open world PvP or even hate it, because you can’t certain people stop from “fictional mass murder” as soon as they don’t risk anything in terms of a real punishment.
Just play in WvW. I don’t want to see the PvE game mucked up with PvP elementas. If I want to PvP I’ll go to WvW or the mists I don’t want people attacking me when I’m enjoying the world.

Yes of course, I’m all about not imposing on other players some features they don’t like.

World PvP is so much diferent from WvW because you don’t know when it happens.

Still would take a lot of work i think though. A mesmer in no-pvp mode uses an AoE attack against a worm fighting a warrior with pvp mode on – does the warrior take damage? Can a mesmer portal their opponent into a cluster of ogres? Do summoned thieves guild or warband attack players with pvp mode on? Lots of variables to take into account and not something I really want the dev team wasting time on.

I would suggest that if a player with PvP off, targeted and attacked another with PvP on, thenthe first would automatically go into PvP mode as well. And if the PvP player was just hit by AoE but not directly targeted, the AoE caster would be safe.
But yes, I realize there are a lot of variables. I’m not imposing something, i just like a bit of spice in my sweet game.

If you are in PvE maps, you cant be attacked by enemy players, but when you enter a WvW map, you enter the battle. What would be the objective of being in a PvP WvW map but fight with other players? Turn of pvp mode to farm mobs in WvW taking the spot of someone who really wants to pvp? No thank you!
And what about the jumping puzzles? You go there in no pvp mode and farm badges for free? Or you would turn pvp mode on just to open the chests? And what about when an enemy chase you while you are in no pvp mode without knowing?
That idea is absolutely disconected to the game purpose. That a total NO! Want to PvE, go to PvE maps and dungeons.

It was common in Lineage 2, if both clans declared war to each other, to have massive battles over a world or raid boss, it made us keep an open eye and pay attention to our surroundings.
… but when you enter a WvW map, you enter the battle. What would be the objective of being in a PvP WvW map but fight with other players? Turn of pvp mode to farm mobs in WvW taking the spot of someone who really wants to pvp? No thank you!

I never mentioned anything about turning PvP off in WvW, did you really read what i wrote?
The PvP in WvW mostly happens as zerg vs zerg. I’ve never been able to find a 1v1 situation without it beeing interrupted by a group on each side. In structured PvP, i get 1v1 sometimes but as it happens in WvW, someone else will come rushing to either help me or my enemy.

50v50 is not PvP in my eyes, it’s a race to TAB an enemy and do soemthing quick before he dies.
