World bosses how it should be
Maybe you should be a little more detailed about what should be changed, it is not really clear what you mean with those 2 videos.
And more :

Even they got it :

The “real” problem with the world bosses is they are actually more for show than actual experience. By that I mean they form no real threat towards anyone, they just sit there getting hit, do some roaring and debuffing to you but that’s really it. They require no planning, no skill. (I was doing the shatterer at level 38?) besides after seeing it once you pretty much know how all the dragons will be.
So far the only “boss” mob I am a bit positive about is “Giganticus Lupicus”, from the Arah Dungeon. He has 3 stages which makes it interesting and he actually moves around. Sadly enough this boss is only for 5 players and not open world, if it were open world and he gets scaled up for the amount of people around it be a lot more interesting.
Besides that I think Arenanet really should take a look into their mechanics for mob aggression, I see it way to much that 1 person is the dummy that needs to run around with everyone else just auto attacking (Champ Abomination in the north of Arah for example) It takes away the whole idea of the “no holy trinity” as no one really needs to heal at all.
Now about the loot (I think the OP was after this?) I don’t have much to complain as the dragons are so easy the loot shouldn’t be rare at all IMO

Now in words what should be changed. Do you want to see an unique reward from the boss, or more difficult mechanics? Be more detailed, be more specific.
The videos, to me, only show a whole bunch of people fighting something.
The videos are not telling me what you want to say.
I dont see why words should explain what vids clearly state.
Aion, L2 even wow have bosses that are actually there for some reason. Drop, pvp or fun. GW2 bosses are only good on shot vids. f you try do any , its like , spam 1, and wait for it to die.
I really hate to write whats obvious to anyone who ever did play some other mmo. For others , oh well, ignorance is a bliss.
Maybe its wrong to compare GW2 meta-events to those world bosses, it’s to begin with hard to compare those games.
As how I think about it, the meta events are better than the world bosses. Everybody gets loot, be it good or bad, so no crying about that that random pug you took with you ninja’ed that mighty ring of dragon slaying.
Also you dont have the situation where the mightiest guild of the server is camping the bosses for the mighty ring of dragon slaying, never sharing it with the rest of the community.
I do agree with the meta events becoming somewhat lack luster after a while but I wouldn’t want them to be like the world bosses of old.
(P.s. world bosses based on Aion world bosses haven’t played the other games)
(P.p.s. for OP: Don’t go hating on me or anyone else for that matter, just because he has a different opinion or hasn’t played/enjoyed the games you played.)
Here you go, OP, I’ll help you with your suggestion:
Dear ANet,
When doing future world bosses, could you possibly consider implementing the following:
- More incentive to work as a team
- Bosses that will actually kill us
- Unique Loot / Skins for them bosses
- World Bosses in WvW
- Harder mechanics
Did I nail it?
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
Bosses being capable of wiping out an entire map would be pretty epic – but I’d imagine the forums would be flooded with people complaining about the difficulty.
Currently, they are really not challenging at all and more tedious than anything else after beating them for the first time and thus losing the wow factor.
