Would kill to have this for my charr
This. This. This. This. This. This.
in the creation screen? Everywhere, those creatures are a nation of war, proud and strong, and they walk like they’ve been slapped by their masters too much.
Charr are poorly done in Guild Wars 2, in every visual aspect

Charr are awesome the way they are. They are beasts. Their hunched, prowling posture makes them look menacing. I love their design.

Less humanoid things in games everywhere thanks
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
Guild Wars 1 had both the hunched over types and the standing uprights types. They could have continued this.
Imagine how much it hurts their back standing up like a human for a long time…

Well, if you are taking that argument, it’s actually less stress on the body to be balanced as humans are then to have your center of gravity forward like that. Kangaroos can do it because their tail is so heavy it shifts the center back to where the hips are. The hunched over Charr position is too forward and makes it harder to keep their standing balance. Instead of being balanced, they have a lot of stress on their thigh muscles and hips to stand like that.
They should be designed like the Scarrans from Farscape. Class hierarchy had at least 3 distinct looks for the race: the more upright, the more evolved and highly placed. Thus you can create a hunched over brutish warrior or an upright intelligent leader.

They’re already humanoid.
Fur, massive neck, claws and a tail makes them… non human…

Considering they’re humanoid and stand on two legs, imagine how much it hurts their back to hunch over like it hurts us to hunch over for a long time….
The upright posture actually looks more natural and comfortable on charr. It follows a really nice S curve that is also shared with actual Great Cats.

This just indicates those who have not played GW1. I’ve been wondering, since playing GW2 where the Charr that stand up straight are. In GW1 only the warriors were hunched over like that. All the rest stood up tall.

I actually … Like the hunched posture of my Charr, and don’t understand the whole concept of a hunched Charr appearing weak.
I personally think it suits them well as war beasts, especially considering many Charr had that posture in the first one.
I am however always for more options, and I would gladly accept such a feature, especially if we can choose to change it at any time.
Actually they aren’t beasts. They are great minds of Tactic, Strategy and Engineering.
They built cities of metal, massive siege weaponry and strong weapons, they can be proud of that. However, they don’t stand like they’re proud, and no matter what animal you are, the way you stand indicates your feel.
Ever saw a dog walk that has been beaten in the past? He walks on four legs much like charr do on two legs.
But people who are ready and looking for a fight walk like the charr do on two legs.
I don’t know where you come from but I’ve seen neither human nor animal walk like a hunchback in the way charr do because they were looking for a fight.
New York. head down to deflect punches but eyes and face up because their predators on the hunt. Arms wide because “my lats are so huge” and I’m fearlessly inviting all takers. it’s halfway into a boxing stance before you plant your feet and put your hands up.

If you interpret the way Charr stand in the same way as I do, then that is the weirdest fighting stance I’ve never seen, and I do martial arts.

I have done boxing, kick boxing, tae kwan do and was a hand to hand combat instructor in the Marine Corps. Hunched forward is common to both boxing and mma. But forget these resumes that may or may not actually be true. This to me doesn’t seem reminiscent of a beaten dog. it look confident and dangerous. Like a predator:
No, No, No, No… no cat-haed on human body here thanks!!!

I’m not asking to change it for everyone, just an option for stances in character creation, I’ve seen other MMO’s that have optional stance selections and thought it would be nice to have.
I’m also not asking for a huge change either, it’d just be the torso angled upward a little bit more to lessen the hunching.
Kodan has this amazing posture with it’s torso while also have the curve of the powerful neck to make them bestial, I would love that posture for my charr caster.

Actually the pic you posted isn’t a charr in a full hunch.

Where are people getting these arguments? It’s already a cat head on a human body.
It’s a humanoid creature for crying out loud, it’s bipedal, IT HAS ABS AND PECS!
Even with a slight adjustment in posture it looks very menacing and bestial, just look at it’s powerful neck curvature, with a better balanced posture it still looks very powerful but also graceful.

Actually it is. Before they look off to the right and left they spread their arms and legs but they don’t stand any straighter. all he’s doing in that pic is looking off to his left.
edit: But you must not have thought it looked too bad because you thought he was standing straighter. To get that effect I made the head large with a full neck of hair to soften the hard edge of the hump. And in the dark color, it looks a bit slimmer.
