WvW Dailies for Laurels
I’d be interested in Laruels or even just a daily for WvW but at the same time I wouldn’t want even longer queues during primetimes from pvers coming into WvW just for one Laruel.
I think queue times are their own issue. They are very specific to certain servers and certain times. When you look at WvW as a whole, most servers don’t ever have a queue. There are tier one servers than rarely have a queue, never mind having a queue on all four maps. As long as the PvErs are doing WvW objectives for their dailies (and all the objectives are things most WvW players will do in an average play session) they aren’t going to be anything like the JP people. Keep the variety there so players don’t get upset at being unable to take a tower but keep them specific to objectives which count as events in WvW (all of which, with the exception of skritt and centaur) help the server. If the PvErs are flipping supply camps, killing or escorting yaks, taking sentry’s or flipping towers, I might even dare to call them WvWers.
For as long as half the servers below tier 2 don’t have queues, I don’t believe queue times is a reason to avoid brining more people into WvW.
I dont think general rewards like laurels are good solution, but much better Wv3 rewards that are in the ballpark of PvE and specific/exlusive Wv3 rewards for Wvers.

The goal would be to get more people into WvW as well as reward the existing WvW crowd. ArenaNet recently mentioned the number of people playing daily is increasing, this leads me to think dailies are a design tool used to encourage people to play daily. We need people playing in WvW every day and most servers would love to have more people playing and logging into WvW.
Laurels are incredibly valuable and tempting for players to earn. One of the main goals would be to give the non-WvW crowd a strong incentive (carrot) to spend time each day in a format they currently ignore. If it’s a separate daily (not part of the normal daily) it will provide players with exclusive access to a second laurel each day. I think that’d be a huge incentive for players to WvW when they otherwise might not.
There are other WvW exclusive progression systems coming in March, but they sound tailored specifically for people already spending time in WvW. Additional ways to contribute to a big goal of most players (laurel acquisition) would appeal to lots of non-WvW players.
What do you mean with “WvW dailies”? Am I the only one who does all his dailies in WvW, because its just that much more efficient finding all content in WvW than anywhere else?

Haha, I do all my dailies in WvW as well. When they release the multi optional daily system, hopefully one of them will be a wvw oriented one. As it is currently, I can just see too much QQ from PvE players, and WvW players who have to sit through enormous queues waiting for the PvE players to get out.
Most servers don’t have queues. Honestly, if players wanting to get their dailies can’t get into WvW and they aren’t on an overpopulated server, ArenaNet has bigger problems than encouraging more people to WvW.
If all the daily requirements were WvW specific, the only way to get them would be in WvW. Currently most players will complete a daily in the open world, and they should be kept that way. A separate daily for WvW would drag more people into WvW. If you make the WvW dailies require WvW specific events (capture a camp, kill a sentry, defend a tower, capture a tower, capture a supply camp, help the quaggan) you wont have PvErs in WvW, you will have PvErs who become WvWers. Unless you’re on one of the overpopulated servers (in which case you are creating your own problems) most people would welcome an influx of more people into WvW on a daily basis.
It’s not enough that you can complete a normal daily in WvW – that won’t bring more people into WvW, you need something that can only be gained in WvW to bring them there. Honestly, if you are facing long queue times (on all four maps) your server is benefitting from this. If people don’t want queues, maybe it’s time to transfer off of the server to one that has three people fighting against two people to take Stonemist.
