Guild Wars 2

Someone posted this awhile back and I want to bring up the idea of the mercenary system again. If you’re on a high pop or WvW-centric server, it takes hours to get into WvW. Let us help other servers that have no queue while waiting to join our main server.

Instead of <server name> Invader, make it <server name> Mercenary (e.g. Anvil Rock Mercenary, Borlis Pass Mercenary, etc)

- Players get to join WvW right away without waiting for hours and hours on high pop servers.
- Solves the population imbalance problem for servers that get run over because they aren’t WvW-centric. (Kaineng, Devona’s Rest, etc)
- The servers focused on WvW should still be able to achieve victory through organized campaigns without losing everything overnight while sleeping (e.g. Eredon Terrace, Jade Quarry, Stormbluff, etc)

I posted this on reddit and I’m not sure what kind of feedback it will get, but it’s worth a try.

Wouldn’t that Introduce spies?

Unless you can only join World V World servers that you’re main server aren’t versing.

As long as am mercenary gets kicked as soon as a regular player need its space in the mists and it is impossible to join worlds that currently fight against you.

Yea I don’t really see any problem with it except that I would be concerned that this might have an adverse effect on the WvW rankings. Maybe if you gained 25%-50% of your contribution went back to your servers overall ranking? Perhaps you could also choose which server you’d like to join? I for one have a few servers that I would never want to fight for.
