What are guild missions?
COLIN: The guild mission system is a really exciting advancement of our event system, and for guilds worldwide. The system allows people in a guild to work together to unlock guild upgrades that allow them to go on missions together. These missions can be kicked off by the specific guild that has researched that mission, but once they are activated, anyone can jump in and participate to help the guild finish the mission if they wish. The missions are designed such that some components of the mission can only be completed by the guild themselves, but each of them has aspects other players can assist with as well, so everyone has something they can do during the mission.
Is a WvW guild mission possible?
MMORPG: Will there be guild missions for PVP, WvW, dungeons, or will they all be in the open world?
COLIN: On the initial release of this system, guild missions will be PvE only, and will occur entirely in the open world.
He did not deny there will be WvW Guild mission so it is possible.
My ideas of guild missions:
Infiltrate the keep/tower
- The Player that is in this guild mission can teleport into the wall only once. However, they cannot attack the Guild Lord or the bodyguards even if the walls were breached. Mesmers cannot even use Portal either to trivalize keep siege. Instead, players can scout, destroy siege weapons, or disrupt. Players cannot stealth, use stability or invulnerability. Infiltration should always feel like you are trying to hide yourself to sabotage instead of getting in to annihilate the zerg from the inside.
Save the Princess
- While Stonemist Castle is in the enemy’s hand. You can research this guild mission to infiltrate Stonemist. You cannot destroy siege weapons. If you succeed in this mission, you take the enemy’s server points and give them to your server.
Escort Commander Siegerazer to other objectives.
- The Guild leader or anyone that starts the Guild mission can tell where Siegerazer should go and he will move to that location. Where he gets there, he drops Siege weapons just like towers.
Escort Supply caravan
- The guild leader can escort caravans to towers or keeps to resupply them. However, the event can only start at spawn. The farther the trip, the more risk involved.
Escort Slavemaster Vatclaw to capture hostage
- In the north of the citadel of every borderland there is a supply camp that resembles a town. In this guild mission, you escort Slavemaster to the north of the supply camp to capture the enemy’s hostage and then bring them back to the keep. If you succeed, you can steal enemy server point and bring them for your own.
Avalanche the bridge/road
- In this guild mission, you have to protect a wizard that will summon earth elementals to become rocks. This will stop enemy players and enemy dolyaks from moving through. It will require siege weapons to destroy it. However, allies and friendly dolyak can clip through with ease.
Recruit Skritt/Centaurs for help
- In this guild mission, if you succeed, you can recruit Centaurs and Skritt to attack sentries/camp/towers or defend it.
Slay the Boss
- In the place north of the Citadel of every borderland, there is a place where Orbs used to be. That place can be replaced for a epic boss battle that servers can kill for more points.
5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
