It would be nice if one could just pitch a little coin into a kitty reserved for upgrading keeps in WvW. I’ll often do a cheap minor upgrade on a keep, but will almost never upgrade anything past the basic level. However, if I could put a little coin toward an upgrade without having to fund the entire thing at once, I probably would.

Obviously, such a kitty would need a couple controls to prevent folks from wasting coin on mindlessly upgrading targets that are easily and regularly conquered instead of shoring up things in more valuable positions.

Perhaps require an active commander tag and then keep a history of who has performed which upgrades that everyone can view. If one commander displays a predilection for poor choices, social pressure should be enough to correct the situation.

I don’t approve of this system, but something similar. It would be incredibly difficult for players to police themselves though, and I can’t honestly think of a way for that to happen without the possibility of tears.

Yeah, my social pressure system is very weak. I’d cheerfully endorse something better. I would like a way to contribute smaller amounts, though. For some of the higher valued upgrades, it’s like finding a hard luck case with a cup that says “$20 bills only”.

I’ve always had luck on my server to just ask for donations, and anyone else who speaks up has so too. While it’s not a system per se, I haven’t seen it fail yet. I think continuing to do this would be a lot better a less risky than having a fund that someone can abuse.

Ah! How about this?
Every guild has a separate section of the bank that can be used for WvW funds. You can only withdraw the same amount that you have deposited within the course of let’s say, two months?

When you go to upgrade a camp/tower/keep in WvW, you still have the option of choosing to use your own funds, but you can use the funds from your guild or a combination of the two. That way, it’s less of a server-wide police and misuse can be handled within the guild.

would be nicer if they didnt cost money at all… why does it need a personal investment from players when its a “server wide effort”. i don’t have a better idea than the currency already ingame (karma, badges etc) but i still wonder how much gets sunk into wvw and wasted as people go to sleep stuff gets flipped w/ little effort.
