Hello,

Just wanted to throw out a few suggestions to maybe make WvWvW a little more exciting.

Wouldn’t it be nice to see the huge zergs break up a little bit and have other objectives other then having to run around in a huge pack to accomplish things? I personally wouldn’t mind seeing some more tactics for smaller groups to utilize for example….. how about having players gather items from mobs within the battlefields to turn in to trigger events similar to the commanders, hyleks and dredge within the game now where they can assist in attacking towers…or keeps or even the castle? Or having the turn ins give a field boost to players not within fort range? Being from a smaller guild that prefers covert ops and small tactical groups it would be nice to see some more options other then supply camps and yak slapping or having to run with a zerg simply to survive the other zergs.

Further more… WvW activities currently effect PvE with the bonuses why not have things to do within the PvE world that helps the people out in WvW? Let’s face it there are plenty of people who don’t ever go out to WvW but wouldn’t it be awesome if they could still help out their server on the battlefield every week simply by doing what they do best…pve?? Having some big world event that could give points or boosts would definitely regenerate some stronger community bonds between the different play styles.

I’m sure there are plenty of others within the GW2 community that would have excellent ideas for both scenarios and I for one would be very interested to read them all. So please…post away.

p.s. If there is a post somewhere with similar ideas or thoughts I apologize as this is my first visit and post …I was compelled to after hours of camp flipping and yaks slapping last night.

I’d really like to see something like this that people could contribute to as well. This would help smaller servers stick it to the bigger servers. Don’t get me wrong I’m on the best server there is, but I want to see competition when things are obviously not in some servers favor. For example I think if teams turned in X amount of tokens (not badges) they could have a NPC commander enter the field where ever they want it to go. So if some server is really getting hit hard they can have their break out event and then another one hitting a different place.

In my opinion if the servers are equally matched up this shouldn’t be a problem since every server will have something at stake and if they don’t then it gives more incentives to the defenders. Anyways I’m sure the commanders in the guild I’m would say absolutely not because they are already putting a ton of time in, but it’s an idea.

Honestly wvw matching should take a couple things into considerations now that casual server transfers have been taken care of and servers have been basically stabilized.

1. When is the servers prime time:
not to bark but if a server has a heavy oceanic presence it should go up against similar servers. This would help towards making WVW fun and not the constant flipping of the map during the day and consequently night hours.

2. Commander books:
Lets face it every server has its share of idiot commanders that have no idea how to effectively run a battlefield. Some players get their commander tag and flaunt it like its the newest truest and bluest. Perhaps make it so the commander tag can only be shown in WVW and is earned by X amount of WVW kills and X location captures instead of having it as a title you can buy without having to prove yourself or have any knowledge of WVW at all.

3. Better matching overall:
I definitely know this is a mammoth task and there will odiously be times where the same servers will go up against others back to back to back… While this does happen and will likely continue to happen due to the fact there is only so many servers, someway to mix things up and possibly match up different reasonably equally matched servers each week to make it balanced and fresh could potentially keep players more interested in WVW.

- Holding an objective for a length of time should generate taxes from the local population. As an objective is improved those taxes increase. The quartermaster at each objective would hold these “taxes” as credits towards the purchase of future upgrades as well as siege blueprints from that Quartermaster.

- make the currents roads “upgradeable”. Upgrade the roads and dolyaks move faster and anyone on the road would gain a small speed increase as well.

- a redesign of tower/keep/castle walls that would allow siege placement that would function (especially the ballista) without having to place it within range of AOE. Siege should be used to take down siege not a zerg with massive amounts of AOE.

To split wvw large groups up, there needs to be two or more parts of a main objective. In order to create a need to go to the multiple part areas each part of main objective, the capture time of the main obj. is reduced in proportion to the number of parts being captured at the same time. Another way to put it would be to speed up capturing by having more parts captured concurrently. Five parts will speed things up five times the speed. Initiating a capture without any other concurrent captures only allows 1/3 of the capture part to be captured until another part starts to capture another point. In order to continue capturing a part, another part must be in the process of capturing concurrently also. To prevent a group from protecting only one area in a two part objective, there needs to be at least three capture parts. Three parts could be the minimum for all the objectives. To spice things up a bit, capturing or having points captured begins to open up more capture points which opens up more capture points, like a chain reaction.

I would also like to see a commander status obtainable within your guild …a symbol that only your guild can see ….something gotten with influence perhaps and assigned by the guild leader and voted approval by officers and so many guild mates.

I wonder if we should be able to “steal” outer wall’s supplies once we’re inside. Would mean that the defenders have to use their supply effectively.

Can’t imagine this being popular though.

While this might be hard, I’d like to see the Commander’s given the power to create events for their squad, made so they can designate a certain place and list commands in the event corner. Also, being able to draw event lines on the map might be good as well so the squad can move more effectively without needing to notice the commander telling them stuff.

It might also be good to give the commander exclusive machines like Target-Markers to track specific enemies or doylaks so their squad can ambush them. This could be a mini golem, maybe, that just follows the target 50 meters away, so if they don’t look around they won’t spot it, but if they do find it it can be destroyed or used as a decoy.

Another could be the Wayward Tent. Simply a wayward point that automatically revives anyone who dies within 100 meters of it inside. This would be useful in lengthy and consuming sieges on the citadels, but expensive and also exposed to enemy fire. However, it can’t be used for others to simply teleport to it outside its given range.
