The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
Technically it’s still combat when you’re in the downed state. However, if there’s a champion standing over you that you foolishly tried to solo still at 50% health or a zerg of 50 is standing on top of you in WvW, it makes your chances of rallying pretty slim.
Penalties and whatever else can still apply, but do we really have sit there and think ‘oh hurry up and get on with it’, twiddling your thumbs while you wait to get back into the fight.
Allow map travel in downed state if we so choose, that way we’re not waiting for the mechanics to catch up with what we already know.
As long as it in every way treats you as being killed by it (damaged gear, end survivor title, drop a loot bag in WvW) I don’t see why not.
Though I can see a bit of a problem in WvW in that if a downed character just disappears you might think that it stealthed or something, so if they could find a way to make you visibly drop dead and your body stick around for a few seconds that would be great.
It’s a matter of couple of seconds in downed state – if you have no chance of rallying – until you’re defeated. Doesn’t it work well enough as it is?
Say, you’ve got champion and lots of mobs on you and you go into downed state, you’ll quickly see which way this fight is going… just stop trying to res if you’re prepared for defeat and wp’ing back/elsewhere… it won’t take long.
