Your Top 10 GW2 problems that need fixing!
GW2 is partially a really really good game and deserves the title for the best game of the year. But some core elements are truly rotten. Actually i don’t need to name 10 of them: I believe, 3 are enough:
1. Progression
Its missing completly in this game. Since lvl ~3 I’m running around with the same skills. After lvl 30 I’ve learned all possible skills. There are only few viable builds, weapons and traits for every class etc. etc. etc. pp….
So what is needed:
- Skill-Trees, not just Traits to adjust your own build. This means, that your skills do change. And I’m not just speaking about the dmg they deal, animations, effects and functions have to change as well. In the first few lvls there is a system to learn new skills by using them. Just continue this system! And reward it to specialize on something!
- Additionally: New Weapons and new utilities. A completly revamped skill system will take a lot of time, but adding just some new little spells, thats pretty easy and quick. And so it is really urgent, because atm the combat system in general is just getting more and more boring. Nothing has changed in the entire combat system since the game has been released. Why?
- Not just temporary content. GW2 doesn’t need this for now. GW2 needs new maps, new continents, much more new dungeons and new fractals and new minigames and new events! Instead of wasting the developer’s time on some little events, concentrate on permanent content! With every huge event, like Halloween, add a new dungeon! Add a new jumping Puzzle! Add a new map! And add interesting new content, not something like Southsun Cove…
Just an exampel: There is an entire map, that isn’t used yet. Its called the claw island. Just one single time you can enter this map – only for 2 or 3 personal stories. Beside that, I would love to see the personal story changed as well. I just hate Trehearne. But thats not important for now.
How about that: Make it possible, to enter the Claw Island, after you’ve successfully finished the personal stories there. It would be a map around lvl 60-70 with normal quests and events and heart-quests. Mainly it would concentrate on fighting the undead and rebuild the fortress etc. A possible feature on the island would be a ship battle or just a ship you can take to get quieckly and without any costs to Orr.
2. Optimisation
To put it in a nutshell:
- make the night dark
- make it possible to repeat heart quests just for fun
- let the claw island be a new map for lvl 60-70 after you finished the personal story
- revamp chain events and let them have different possible outcomes/results/effects/flows…..
- millions of suggestions here: Details are as important as the main content.
3. Balance
Technically a part of the Optimisation, but just extremly important. Just to be honest: Right now, the Balance is just crap.
- take a look at the base hp pool and armor of every class and then compare it to the dmg they deal
- take a look at the the viable builds and weapons
- take a look at the senseless skills…
- take a look at everything… Just no other way to say it. I’ve noticed already that ANet doesn’t care much about balance. In PvE it doesn’t really matter, you can do everything with anybody because it is just not too difficult. They don’t even seperate PvP from PvE. Every patch the few viable builds of some classes become nerfed and nerfed and nerfed again, while overpowered or even broken classes like the mesmer remain overpowered and become even buffed. Sense?

Permanent Stow for Ranger Pets…
Its needed so badly, yes deagro is nice but they still get in the way in Arah and other dungeons and more importantly Jump puzzles we need to remove them occasionally they get in the way slow you down randomly attack for no reason etc..
Loot Drops out side of world events are bad, jump puzzle chests and Dungeon chests need the world event treatment, give them a dedicated lodestone or something sheesh..
Class balance, classes need to be raised not nerfed every patch…
Skills need overhauls and more added so we have various builds between classes etc Warrior and Warrior, Ranger and Ranger etc need to be different..per player styles..
1) Engineers
2) Worthless townclothes (seriously- let us wear glasses in the open world!)
3) Engineers
4) Everyone being funneled into dungeons
5) Engineers
6) Necros
7) Engineers
8) Rangers
9) Engineers
10) In case I forgot: Engineers.
The 2 famous Anet lines:
“We want more viable Elementalist builds”
1) Make more builds viable for Elementalists
This was promised like 4 months ago but we haven’t seen ANY change worth mentioning to any other build, weapon skill or trait since then, only nerfs, and major ones. Complete rework of Fire Traits, rework of lots of Air/Earth traits, rework of Focus skills (simple numbers don’t help), serious buffing of Staff, at least in PVE, replace Hurl and Shatterstone on Scepter (they are 2 completely worthless skills) with skills that actually do something.
“Want to bring down cantrip Ele without affecting lesser used builds”
2) Next time you tweak Elementalists, because you will do it, I’m sure, do it in a way that doesn’t affect the less popular builds. Right now, each nerf affects every build, other than the bunker build, way more than the bunker build (!!!) leading to more bunkers, the complete opposite of your intentions.

They used to say the same thing in GW1 before nerfing something major for eles =D

I don’t want to base the future of Elementalists on GW1 because it took them 6 years (!!!) to fix them in PVE… by changing Hard Mode armor/hit points. I’m not sure if I want to wait, or have the patience to wait, for 6 years again, for my chosen profession to be “fixed”

1. (long term) More build variety
New utility skills, weapon sets, and trait options would be nice for future expansions. Right now each profession seems to only have one or two ways to set up their character that can work well. GW1 offered many, many skills so at least their was variety in the ‘OP’ builds. I’m thinking maybe a small amount of options for each weapon slot (might be dangerous when it comes to balance) and/or more active traits, like cantrips on dodge, or evasive arcana and more utility skills would help keep combat feeling new. Once again, long term goal.
2. LFG party board would be nice.
3. More types of pvp are needed. Only having conquest is kind of stale.
4. Make the 25 condition max per person. Conditions are kind of weak in large groups.
5. The ability to sell multiple items on tp at the same time would be very nice. Maybe sales/purchases in bulk, but this might only be useful for speculators.
6. Introduce nerfs and buffs for a profession during the same patch instead of nerfing then rebuffing or vice versa.
7. Allow pve build respeccing anywhere outside of dungeons.

Although it will be good for an expansion, right now it’s not needed and I don’t think it’s even on the to-do list. They’d better FIX the skills we have now and make at least half of them viable on each profession and then start adding new ones. We have tons of unused utilities/weapons/traits already, introducing new ones won’t fix the problem of builds, tweaking what we already have will.
1. Right-click targeting is frustrating when trying to move your camera. Please add a way to disable it.
2. Classes still seem imbalanced. I realize this is a work in progress, but a patch dedicated to this would make me a very happy camper.
3. Town clothes options as skins for armor. I’d love to have glasses 24/7 on my character(s).
4. RNG is a cruel mistress. I’ve had one amazing day in the past 6 months, while some people seem to trip over precursors/exotics/t6 mats every day.
5. WvW has no incentive for someone who despises the zerg mentality. Other than being a feww loot bag for your enemies, there’s not much point to enter wvw unless you plan on joining the mindless zerg.
6. Add event timers to zone events. Would be so nice to not have to sit around 45 minutes for SB/Maw to spawn at the last possible second of its window.
7. Easier dungeons/dungeon paths as options. I like playing with my friends, not hardcore min/max pugs. Just because one is less efficient than the other doesn’t mean some dungeons should be upright impossible based on the people you bring.
8. Add new low level dungeon to replace AC’s pre-update position. I honestly miss helping friends level through AC runs, and now with the new AC, it’s a problem that was moved from difficult trash to difficult bosses. Die on trash? No big deal, try again or just run pass/avoid it. Die on a boss? Gotta restart the 5-10 minute ordeal again. :\ Kohler is still not visible enough on his tells due to the loud graphics on player spells and mob effects.
9. Option to turn off other players models/graphics/spells/everything. I don’t need flying horses and popcap whizbangs and blue fire immersing a mob that I’m trying to discern the tiny little shout/shine/whatever animation to let me know "Hey, this next attack is gonna hurt or knock you down or something. Also, I prefer to see mobs hammering on me than some guy not in my party/guild. Why prioritize loading players first?
10. Drop rates. Still pretttttty low to argue that farming is not necessary. DR doesn’t particularly help, and magic find randomly seems to work?
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
- engineer dps traits changed and matched to thieves/rangers DPS builder traits for burst DPS equality Here’s a guide to the disparity if it’s going to remain an adventurer class. engineer healing skills/traits improved to match the versatility of the elementalists
- the removal of the engineer self CC and RNG thrown elixir effects to prevent self destruction that’s not enjoyable and causes the class to be even weaker then it already is with 7 months of nerfs.
- AI’s of pets, turrets, summons improved immediately to match the level of enemy minions in meta boss fights with a very high number of players present (so they actually act with and improve their fighting techniques), along with a mandatory 90% reduction in AOE damage to pets across the board to ensure that the AOE problem that even Anet recognizes is fixed for pet heavy classes. (this include elite moves like Mortar)
- the unconditional removal of DR from the game, it’s only there to harm the players and make farming impossible for legit farmers, they have never ever fixed it so that it doesn’t affect players and it’s high time that it’s removed now that the game is almost 1 year old.
- The focus of the gameplay redirected to open world in metas and pre-meta events with real rewards (Champions dropping rares very much more often)
- The elimination of gimpt RNG increasing the number of T6 mats (gossamer, blood, flowers, rares-globs) that drop from open world and easily farm-able mobs in 75+ zones so that the acquisition of wealth and the 250 pieces of mats needed for legendaries isn’t a 6-10 month ordeal, this is a game not a second job.
- the removal of the hour+ RNG timer for meta events or the redo of the ui for these events so that people will know exactly when the dragons will land instead of spending an hour and a half waiting around for it to begin with nothing else to do but stand there or dance.
- the complete redo of magic find so that it functions as it’s supposed to (ie the higher the number the better the drops all the time)
- taking the cap off of conditions on an enemy because everyone apparently has a bleed attack even when they aren’t focused on a condition build, and the immediate homogenization of all condition damage (ie a non condi built/geared thief should never do more bleed damage then a full condi built/geared engineer at any time)
- needed are two of the multiple projects promised the playerbase at launch. A: the minigames for towns complete with in game (and purchased without any gems from the gem store) cosmetic items that bond to the piece of armor worn B: web/mobile apps for login security/guild chat/friend locations on a global map/lotteries daily-hourly complete with cosmetic/crafting/currency rewards (currency being gold-dungeon coins-laurels).

Therre is only 1 problem for me right now that needs to be fixed asap
- Players should learn to use the right subforums for their threads (suggestions)
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
What kokiman said.
1) Condition Cap – Limiting the combined dps of a group of builds to something that a single player can reach, no matter how many players using that build are present, should not happen. Whether it’s fixed by removing the cap, giving players personal caps or something else entirely, it should be dealt with so a player’s effectiveness is not reduced simply because somebody else is running a similar build.
2) More gameplay options should become available as the character levels. Right now we’re effectively playing the same game from 30 to 40, then we get master traits, then it’s the same game from 40 to 60 for GM traits, and then it never really changes and we just get the ability to choose more options at once, not new options. Add in that everything past level 30 is passive, and it feels pretty stale. Maybe we could have something like unlocking new weapons for each class via some sort of personal instance at higher levels, or gaining swappable skills for the weapons we have (but ANet don’t want to do the latter because weapons are easier to balance with just one fixed skill set…)
3) Underwater combat. There are traits that don’t work, no weapon set variety whatsoever, targetting can be buggy as well as camera issues (a chase camera that automatically follows targets in relation to the player position would be a godsend, especially with autotarget dropping targets if they’re not on screen when you attack…). Underwater combat needs at least 1 more weapon set per class so you don’t know all 10 of a character’s weapon skills just from their class, and more traits that benefit underwater weapons similar to the ones warriors get, plus an option to have separate traits underwater for when a build really doesn’t work there entirely.
- Increase Skill and Utility Variety: Ideally, I would want 2 possible skill sets for each weapon set. I would also like a heal and elite skill for each type category of class skill (i.e. heal trap and elite trap for thief)
- Fix Skill Function: So many skills don’t do what they are supposed to do. Period.
- PvP Modes: We need some guild-based PvP and at least one other PvP type. 3-4 modes with leaderboards give people a choice of what they like.
- PvE Replayability: A lot of work went into making Hearts and Story mode (quality is another topic). If people like a particular encounter, they should be able to relive it and/or invite friends to see why they like it. Limit rewards to Karma for repeats. Also, I’d like to see Master Completion for Story and Hearts…place a timer. Once timer starts, player has a set amount of time to complete the hearts/story mission.
- Guild Halls: I don’t think there is more that can be done to increase guild comradery then having a place that you can all hang out. Add increased functionality that can be bought with influence, merits, and member karma. Make guild maintain their hall by utilizing karma, influence, and DEs that occur in Guild Halls.
- Dynamic Events/Mini Games in Towns: Divinity’s Reach is beautiful. It may also be the worst waste of space I’ve seen in an MMO. Why the HELL aren’t there more things to do in the last bastion for humanity? Adding DEs that expand on the lore of the home cities and give rewards would really do a lot to liven the areas up and would require development of DEs without conventional combat (Don’t want people dying in towns). This goes for all towns. We’ve heard about archery, bar brawl, polymock, and more. Make them a reality.
- Monthly AMAs: We really have good questions for you guys. The AMAs are very informative. I think having them on a monthly basis would be healthy for both the community and the development team.
- Rangers, Engineers, and Necromancers: Please, please, please…save these classes. I am actually happy with my Engineer, but my necro and ranger feel so…off. They really need attention, especially in PvE. I understand you want to balance for PvP, but you need to be realistic
- Elite Areas: Bring back areas a la UW, FoW, DoA, The Deep, and Urgoz Warren from GW1. Larger team composition (no more than 15), PUNISHING mechanics, team build and communication importance.
- Black Lion TC: Give us things we have ASKED to buy. Dances, Emotes, Taunts, Armor (no trench coats for medium armor), Town Cloths, Hair styles, etc.
- KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK: There is plenty of stuff that needs to be addressed, but you guys have also been doing a great job so far. Keep it up, listen to your community, and have fun

top 10? let’s see off the top of my head in no particular order…
10. More variety of skins for weapons and armor
-pretty self explanatory. When you can identify by sight every piece of armor in the game, there needs to be more variety. People need a goal in an MMO to keep them playing. I’d love for there to be so many freaking skins that you don’t see the same weapon or armor for days at a time. Why not?
09. WvW exclusive skins
-I love WvW, but there’s no reward. Server pride is moderately fun for a while, but ultimately there’s nothing tying you to the people who just so happen to play on the same server as you. There needs to be rewards for doing WvW to get people interested. I’d love to wear a helmet or body piece that was WvW exclusive and displayed my accomplishments.
08. Need more tiers of race exclusive weapons and armor
- Tier 1,2,3 armor is really awesome, but after 8 months it’s all been seen and done. Everybody’s acquired their favorites already and been wearing them for almost a year now. We need more race exclusive armor and weapon skins.
07. New Zones
-We’ve got this incredible map potential with all these amazing areas waiting to be explored, like the deldrimor area, crystal desert, etc…. but I’ve almost got map completion on two characters already. We need either a hard mode type event like the one from GW1 (not necessarily my choice) to spice things up, or we need to open up some new zones. I want to see something new, as I’m sure everyone else does.
06. Add some underwater awesomeness
-Anet created a pretty cool underwater portion of this game, but people avoid it like the plague because the weapons suck and there’s no underwater cities or events. You’ve essentially got the potential for a battleground without gravity… make it awesome. Give us ruins, and treasures, and deep sea adventures and such. Also, make the water deeper, darker, and more menacing. Make the seas choppy sometimes. Add storms and shipwrecks… ship battles, you know. Awesomeness. I want to get knocked off a ship in WvW, which I was using to siege a castle, and get thrown into the water. Sometimes it feels like you’re swimming in a pretty fish tank with no character. The underwater graphics are beautifully done… use it!
05. Personal Home Instance
Add it. Now. It would be number one but I couldn’t think of anything else off the top of my head for number 5. I want a house with furniture, a wife, a front lawn, maybe some neighbors. I want to spend my money on pointless paintings of Hoelbrak for my living room. I want a back porch, with the heads of my enemies posted on spikes in my back lawn for my children to poke with sticks. In the almighty words of the wolf… pretty please. With sugar on top. Give us a kittening home instance.
04. Guild Halls
It’s guild wars. no need to even go into detail.
03. Robes
I can’t believe how crappy it is that our light armor doesn’t include an incredible variety of robes. I want a wizard, man. With tons of varieties of robes, and maybe some bookshelves in my home instance where I can study spells or something. I want a robe for every day of the week, not a pair of hot pants or a billowy umbrella shaped cloth disaster that makes my butt look four times as wide as my waist. I guess 03. part B would be, give ele a decent staff. An ele with a dagger just doesn’t seem right to me. Staff should be the most powerful weapon on an ele. That’s it, the end. No conversation necessary.
02. Great Axe
Where is the GA? You have a Norn holding a great axe on your first promo pictures from before the game came out. How is this not a weapon in the game? It is honestly a travesty of justice that this weapon was not included in this game from the moment it went live. A travesty of freaking justice.
01. Dwarves
I’m not even sure how to say this in a way that isn’t terribly insulting…. but I’ll try. Whoever decided that Dwarves should be “extinct” and not play a role in this game should really feel bad about that decision. Not only are they non-existent as a race, but their ruins provide perhaps the greatest single opportunity for you guys to develop an amazing historical approach to your story writing and game development. They’re extinct? How did they go extinct? Where are their underground Moria-esque ruins? If they’re not extinct, where are they now? Can I play one? Do they have armor and weapons for me to wear? These are the questions that beg for answers.
Now get to work, Anet! We’re almost a year in. Announce a expansion or something… people are leaving your game in droves. There’s nothing much to do once you hit 80 and have spent a decent amount of time farming, in WvW, or doing PvP. Your game is stagnating. I just spent 45 minutes typing this instead of playing it, because I HAVE NO IN GAME GOAL LEFT. Give me some awesomeness, please and thank you!!!

QoL enhancements, especially at the BLTC interface. The two things I would like to see is maintaining the search results when swapping between tabs and allow me to specify the number of gems I wish to purchase as well as gold I’m willing to spend. And vice versa if I want X gold, how many gems do I need to sell.
Also, but I know we will never get this, a time stamped transition log of the last X sales for an item on the market. Even just total number of sales and average price over the last 24 hours would help immensely since will buy and sell numbers are just snapshots and may not reflect the actual activity surrounding that item.
RIP City of Heroes
1. Remove the popup for overflow. Never should a window appear which I didn’t open myself. I am ready to make an exception for the reward popup after a fractal/dungeon
2. Make teleporting to the 6 cities free. It is free if you use Heart Of The Mists but that is a sloppy workaround. It means more loading screens. Sentencing us to multiple loading screens is not only not fun but is also a misuse of a technical issue (reminding me that the loading time is really boring and long).
3. Every dungeon should have an additional short path. CoF has an unofficial one (path 1). Every dungeon should have such a path. But this path should not have the same rewards (not 60/20 tokens and 26 silver but 15/5 tokens and 10 silver or something like that). That would solve the problem that a large part wants more challenging dungeons while another part of the players like smaller experiences, for example me (due to work, family and other issues I can’t commit that much time in one piece).
4. Guild missions should always give a reward chest, not only once a week per account and mission type. But the reward chests after the first one per week should be toned down massively (say 10 silver, only a slight chance for a commendation and for every of the two item slots in the reward chest only a 20% chance for a rare). That is good enough to be felt as a reward for redoing the mission and covers teleporting costs nicely. As it is now, as entertaining for example challenges are, it is a net loss to do it (teleport and repair costs). Oh, and guild trek should have a personal reward, too – not an outstanding one, but enough to cover teleporting costs and then some.
5. Remove culling from pve.
6. Make the wurm boss in Caledon Forest so that it cannot die instantly after spawning. And while you are at it, let world bosses scale better.
7. On the other hand: tone down the scaling of guild bounty bosses a bit. They scale so steep that it is detrimental to have more than 5 guys around a bounty boss. There are already some griefing issues: people from other guilds who add to the fight, making bounty bosses very, very difficult (I look at you, Half-Baked Komali…) and thus making the guild who started the bounty quite angry.
8. Make Southsun Cove a worthwile place. The karkas are very difficult – you should give us a good reason to mess with these dangerous creatures. So far I see none.

All I could ask for.
Shouldn’t this be merged with the Game Improvements – Suggestions thread?

There is an armor set already that is only acquired through WvW badges
No WvW weapons, but armor exists. I actually kinda like the medium set. WvW weapons and backpiece would be good, though.
Putting these in order (1 being the worst, 10 being the least bad).
1. Ascended and Agony
In a game that took pride in having skill based combat and minimum amounts of grind this absolutely doesn’t fit in the game at all.
2. Putting RNG in the gemstore
You can’t sink much lower than this when it comes to making money.
3. Magic Find in dungeons
In a team based setting Magic Find does not belong there.
4. Dungeons
I could write a book on things I don’t like about dungeons in their current state, but to keep it short: Bosses that are boring, easy HP sponges. Bosses that only target 1 player the whole fight. Trash mobs that aren’t worth the time and risk killing, and are easily skippable. Same rewards across all dungeons and paths regardless of difficulty and length.
5. World bosses
They are nothing more than a 1 minute (or 10 second in the low level areas) loot, zerg and lag fest.
6. Legendary items
From bad design for most of them to the fact that they’re buyable off the TP, there clearly wasn’t put in a lot of thought and effort into the whole Legendary items thing, which is a shame.
7 Skill
This kind of ties in with a few of my other problems, but I feel that grind is hugely favoured over skill in this game, and that’s what bothers me. Skill doesn’t get you awesome gear, only grind does. Skill doesn’t get you a legendary weapon, only grind does. Skill doesn’t get you titles (Dungeon Master being the sole exception), only grind does. Skill isn’t even required in a lot of cases, it’s often more about grinding down enemy HP bars than it is about skilful gameplay.
8. Story
I had hoped for the personal story to be closer to Guild Wars 1 missions, by offering unique challenges and mission objectives. Instead of threw me bunches of regular enemies and the most easy and boring bosses possible. The story itself went quickly downhill after level 50 when my Order’s mentor leaves…
9. Crafting
Crafting is completely useless besides it being an easy way to level up an alt, since everything is buyable on the trade post for roughly the same price as it costs to make something yourself. Needs untradable skins that can only be obtained through crafting.
10. Cities and home districts
This one was going to be obvious, but there’s just about 0% reason to ever go back to any of the racial cities, except for exploration purposes and the occasional story objective. There’s even less reason to ever go to your home instance…
1 thing that would surely help would be to make travel to my racial city free, but for now Lion’s Arch is the only true place to go to.
11 Underwater
Yes, an 11th. Deal with it! Underwater combat in its current state is a bore, and offers way less variety and fun gameplay than combat on land.

Permanent Stow for Ranger Pets…
Its needed so badly
See screenshot.
Is that not working in Arah?
My list:
1. Guild tools lacking. Need to be able to see things like member activity, how often they represent, how much influence they’re generating vs. how much benefits they’re getting from when they represent. How long since they’ve last been around. Need ability to edit message of the day without having to retype it all. Want place to put in server and port if we have vent or mumble, and website if we have that. The game need ability of people to search for guilds based on various factors (member averages for: % of world completion, PvP or PvE completion, Dungeons done, Race / Class / Profession representation, settable flags for desired content: RP, PvE, sPvP, WvW – checkbox not radio as some do more than one), etc…
2. Farmable content needs to get patched out. I’m looking at CoF path 1 in particular, but many dungeons have paths that are unusually easy to farm. This needs to get fixed, it disrupts the larger picture of the game economy and long term stability. Dragons and other major world bosses need to be moved off of predictable timers.
3. sPvP. Observer mode needed, ability to ‘register’ a permanent team name and have it scored. Ability to do private matches. Ability to do guild vs. guild matches. Some of this is coming, all of it needs to.
4. Where mah guild hallz @? Seriously… This -is- Guild Wars right?
5. Group building tools. Ok, there is a looking for group tool in the game, the magnifying glass on the left side of the panel that opens when you hit the ‘y’ key. Now make it useful. Why is it limited to only searching people already in my friend’s list? Make it so I can list what content I am interested in, and let me search for others by those factors.
6. Give me the option to choose to move to an overflow server if one exists. Lion’s Arch is way too laggy when it fills up on my server and there is nothing worse than being the person who gets in right before the next person moves to overflow… Dropping from 50fps down to 0.5fps is horrible. And then getting out of the city worse because I can’t even open the map or my options panel (on weekends I turn my graphics to low on every setting before any ports to Lion’s Arch. On weeknights its hit or miss so I don’t always do this).
7. Need a sit animation for chairs. Seriously. Ok, so you can’t go back and add it to every chair. Fine. Make /chairsit, and have that make our toons sit as if there was a chair under them, and drop down to fit some standard chair height, but push up until they are fully above ground height.
8. More build in emotes. Especially separate male and female dances…
9. Less Buttflap in the medium armor range. Give us 3 more tops for both sexes that DO NOT have a buttflap.
10. Make the Mac client as good as the PC one. Not some emulator, but a native client so I can set the graphics just as high. And fix the window, so I can run in fullscreen-windowed without it cutting off half the action bar. Make it equally fast – I can feel the molasses when I run in Mac. The same machine, booted into Windows through bootcamp, is visibly faster to react because its not using an emulator.

I personally enjoy underwater combat especially hotw
My top 3 to fix:
- The massive dominance of direct dps in PvE – make condition builds as effective in PvE
- CoF path 1 gold farming – it’s inflating TP prices for the rest of us
- In game LFG tool
Permanent Stow for Ranger Pets…
Its needed so badly
See screenshot.
When you enter combat the pet pops out… no actually even if you take 1 falling damage the pet will come out, very annoying when doing puzzles. A way to have it stowed even if in combat is needed.
I like how GW2 has advanced and the game itself is really good, I only have 3 gotcha’s, one technical and the other really more for about keeping you in the world.
1/ Vista’s… I think this is a great idea! but it is at most times very frustrating to get to them, not because of the height, environment challenges but rather how the engine is handling the horrible “invisible walls” , you know you should be able to make that jump but a lot of times it feels like it has been purposely blocked off, by the time I get to the top I’m way to frustrated and annoyed to even watch the cut scene so I instant skip.
2/ The story, it starts off really well but at about the half way point I feel the characters lose depth and it feels rushed, I feel they lack emotion, especially when they talk to each other, it’s like as if the developers had the voice sessions recorded independently rather than having the actors and actresses in the same session playing off each other, like the really bad English dubs on anime, they lack drive… I mean seriously you’re planning to kill a dragon… couldn’t you display a little more emotion? It all seems like “it’s another day in Tyria”.
3/A reason to be in the zones, the environments, the art work everything is lush and beautiful, a lot of times I find myself asking “why am I here?” “what is the lore?” I felt that each of the zones could have had a small side story guiding you through, I just wonder aimlessly clearing the hearts and then leave, always thinking… what was the point of me visiting there? , I know the main story takes you there but it always feels isolated from the actual zone itself.
I think everything else is great, there are some technical issues but all games have that stuff and is usually resolved over time.
Lets see:
10. Lack of Emotes.
You can sit on chairs, Drink stuff, Flirt, joke… There are still tons of emotes missing.
9. The game doesn’t support moving platforms
There are millions of jumping puzzles and epic moment that come to mind with that future implemented!
8. Crafting is becoming useless
With the introduction of the Ascended Tier, people will no longer need exotics. I made some suggestion about this in the past! I suggest the introduction of “Skin recipes” that allows you to give your weapon a cool skin, and require low tier materials to make!
7. Underwater needs improving
A large portion of the game is underwater! Yet everyone avoids the Water whenever they can. Currently playing underwater isn’t as fun. Things could improve if the game had better unique soundtrack to rise some tension when underwater, but sadly that’s not the case.
6. Encourage Use of old unused content:
Add some mechanics that give extra rewards to players for doing unpopular content that hasn’t been done by players in some time! There is already a similar mechanic when killing mobs, but nothing for Events or story dungeons.
5. Improve the interface:
Double-clinking is a bit annoying, even 8 months into the game.
Also, the Heart Karma vendors give tons of cool items that are extremely awkward to use. Hire is a hint!
Also, please remove the enemy’s health from the top of the screen where I throw my grenades that need to be targeted on the ground.
Also, allow me to zoom into my character’s eyes.
Also, I want to see my party members with conditions on the field!
Also, I don’t want my condition build to be effected by other people’s conditions!
4. Abolish Realms:
The GW1 system worked much better. Arena-net should ether make low populated areas of various realms smoothly fuse with each other, or follow the style of “Elder’s Scrolls Online” and Sony’s “Home” style of having only “overflows”!
3. Fix the Dungeons:
The Dungeons aren’t currently very fun. Most Bosses are HP buckets, much of the content is unbalanced with difficulty spikes and one shot kills, completing them takes eons and every run is a test to the stamina of the player instead of his character.
I strongly suggest A-net to take advantage of the fact that each dungeon has 4 variations and give a different difficulty tier to each of them, with the easiest being the Story mode, and the hardest explorable tier being sadistic and require Ascended gear (and have loot that represent the difficulty). That way players will actually have more freedom on the content they choose, that (if ’m not mistaken, is what A-net was aiming from the beginning)
2. Hire a director!
By playing the personal story I can clearly see that A-net didn’t have one! The poor unfitting with little variety music (JS let me down in this game), the lame dialogue cut-scenes, the lamer dialogue, the horrible characters, the anticlimactic final boss battle, the inability to show emotions, and other stuff show that A-net just throw stuffs that usually make movies epic (ex battles in thunderstorms) and expected to somehow work into something cool.
How well a single player story plays normally isn’t something that a core GW2 player would notice, but a new or a casual gamer will be extreamly let down of how poorly it looks and plays. Apply some fixes to the existing story without re-making it from the beginning. Also making it Branch a little more would also help greatly!
And BTW. That Live action advertisement was awful! Try to think as a casual in order to sell your game you idiots!
1. STILL NO LFG SYSTEM!
Self explanatory.
1) Balance and broken mechanics. Ranger pets have the worst AI I’ve ever seen. Pathing doesn’t update often enough. Abilities require the pet to stand still, some abilities don’t even allow the pet to adjust direction in the pre-cast. Pet general squishiness never helps. Dagger/dagger Eles are over the top, yet all other ele specs are mediocre, if not straight garbage(lawl scepter). Thieves can still kill anything… uhm why? Why does a thief need to be able to burst absolutely everything, even tank builds? Never mind that stealth is an OP mechanic in a game with only one true stealth class. Engineers… not even sure where to begin.
2) No LFG system. You’d think that Anet would know by now that in order to be competitive in the modern MMO market you must have an LFG system AT LAUNCH. This game is way past that, and still you have to spam map chat for parties. Archaic doesn’t even begin to describe it.
3) General noob unfriendliness. This game makes it very hard for new players. Important concepts go unexplained virtually forever. If you don’t have friends to ask, you may as well just quit.
4) End game boredom. There’s nothing to do at end game other than grind ascended gear, and I don’t even want it. The performance difference is marginal. WvW offers virtually no end-game rewards at all. The WvW “rank” system is just a bunch of crap. You can spend 0 points and not notice it when fighting players who’ve spent over 100 points. Not everyone likes instanced PvP.
5) WvW in general. Maps are too small with too little open terrain. Objectives flip too easily and greatly favor attackers. The entire system caters to zergs, which butcher game performance and generate skill lag so long that one can only rely on the 1 key to inflict damage(healing becomes impossible). Small scale combat is almost non-existent, and zergs cross the map so quickly that they can jump on two smaller parties fighting it out before one group can make a decisive blow.
6) Gear dependence. Gear is just as important, if not more so, to your build as skills and traits are. This concept seems fine until Anet starts nerfing and buffing professions like mad, then its just bloody annoying. Changing builds means you have to change gear most of the time, and it often means you have to change almost every, if not every, piece. That just makes ascended gear that much more meaningless. Massive amount of time invested, zero return. Another reason I don’t want ascended gear.
7) Bugged dynamic events. This adds to the agony that is already boring end game content. Not only is it repetitive and tedious, it doesn’t work half the time. Better get on the forums and find out which server has Balthazaar open BECAUSE MINE DOESN’T FREAKIN’ WORK.
8) Underwater. Right now, water combat is just an annoyance that everyone strives to avoid. WvW zerg in the water? Wait ‘til they’re on land. Dynamic event in the water? No one shows up. Either make it interesting and engaging or just take it the hell out.
9) Engineers…
10) Rangers…
1) Sort dungeons out! Especially the first 2 AC & CM, make them fun and friendly, places to learn dungeon skills for the harder dungeons down the road…
2) Give engineers a role in the game, currently every engineer pretty much runs with grenade or bomb kits and no you can’t nerf them or they would have nothing!
3) Fix the AI for Necro minions, Ranger pets, all the other classes summons and npcs, its still bad but it is slightly better then the appalling state it was on release…
4) Keep on top of the bugs! The last few months have been a lot better but I have noticed more creeping back recently, there are a lot in the mid range zones 25-70, probably because there are less players there to report them…
5) Make a 5th map for WvW, it will help with queues.
6) Design some way of trading your ascended gear in to get a different piece of ascended gear ie…one with different stats for a different build you want to run with…
7) Make a epic scavenger hunt that takes you to the 4 corners of Tyria, is very, very hard and time consuming to complete but rewards you with a precursor at the end…
8) Give new players to Gw2 more help! You tend to punish new players, who are way behind anyone who played from the start and need a boost or three…
9) Make new permanent dynamic events for already existing zones.
10) Use the bueatiful open world of Tyria a lot more, don’t just lock everything away in instances…
11) Make a LFG system (a little hint battlenet is one of the best EVER designed…)
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
1) There are tons of cool interior models in the cities but no guild or player housing? If EQ2, a game that’s 8 years old, can have a robust player housing system (that is very popular with players) than a newer MMO should add it. It’s just one more thing players can do in game besides grind the usual events or dungeons.
2) Work on the Lore and add more in-depth Lore. Also the personal stories are pretty lame and bland. It’s hard to feel immersed in a game when it’s all so generic. Even the races don’t feel very unique once you get out of their starter cities. Where’s the in depth culture for each one that carries on through the whole game and sets each race apart? Why are most of the books lying around something you can’t read and get some Lore from like in most other MMOs? Why are the NPCs so vague about what’s going on instead of explaining bits and pieces of the Lore instead of assuming the adventurer/player already knows or doesn’t care?
3) I’m sorry, but classes also feel pretty generic, considering that you only get a very limited number of skills and skill points to use…and each class ends up getting basically the same skills with a different animation and name.
4) More emotes. I can’t believe there’s not a /nod emote, for instance. Why can’t we sit in chairs, etc etc?
5) Fix the bugs. Events and jumping puzzles specifically, from what I’ve seen.
6) Get rid of the invisible walls and instancing! You spent all this time creating a huge landscape with lots of detail… and half of it is blocked by invisible walls and the other half is instanced. It feels very disconnected. There’s no sense of a journey because of this.
7) I know it’s been hashed out before, but mounts of SOME kind would be cool and add to immersion. They wouldn’t even have to give much of a speed buff… it would just be something fun to have.
8) Improve NPC AI. Seriously, I HATE seeing NPCs standing in the same place doing the same 3 emotes over and over, day after day, year after year. It makes the cities feel like paper cutouts instead of real, living cities.
9) Fix buggy pets. Their AI is awful.
10) More TYPES of content. Why not a political system of some kind? Why not pay attention to crafting and make it viable and more fun? Why not some alternate advancement options to work towards that take a lot longer to do?
also I have to add:
11: Make leveling down OPTIONAL. Sorry, it feels pointless to level if you never really feel much more powerful/unique. It’s great to have the option to level down but forcing it in every zone is just tedious.
Slowing down while being attacked needs to be FIXED!
Permanent Stow for Ranger Pets…
Its needed so badly
See screenshot.
Is that not working in Arah?
Which is awesome, until you get hit..take fall damage or even shoot something, i know how stow works and its badly made, pet needs to stow until im ready to use it, smart guy…
1. Underwater Combat
A huge part of the game is severely lacking. Enemies bug right through walls, making for terrible experiences, most underwater weapons feel clunky, most enemies (especially the Risen and Krait) are far more annoying underwater than on land (and that’s saying something), and there is no excuse whatsoever for the sheer number of utilities and elites that can’t be used underwater.
2. Organized PvP
Conquest was a bad idea for the standard pvp format. It’s easy to balance, but it’s also shallow and repetitive. Would it really be so difficult to take a note from the MOBA/ARTS genre and make the competitive mode of the game similar to Smite? You know something complex, team-based, and proven to encourage teamwork and varying strategies? Conquest should be a side mode at best, plain and simple.
3. Weapon variety
Everyone should eventually be able to wield everything, save maybe for a few exclusive weapons for each class or armor type. If we’re locked into set builds, we should have at least 10 of these per profession to choose from.
4. Trait fixes
Roughly half of all traits blow. Each profession has at least one bad trait line. This needs to be fixed before we all die of old age.
5. Open world rewards
Improved rewards while downscaling, to encourage players to play all content. Optional “Hard Mode” button to weaken your character for added difficulty and increased magic find.
6. New utilities and elites for everyone
7. Redesigning of the game’s more obnoxious foes, such as the Dredge, Risen, and Krait.
8. More hairstyles and faces for all races.
More Sylvari faces that don’t suck would be nice, for instance.
9. More Norn body types (and more body types in general)
Sleeker body types for Norn. A tall, thin Norn blessed by Raven? I’ve wanted to be one since the Norn were announced as playable – unfortunately, their character models (for males) are unrealistically brawny or fat.
10. Forced color rotations for WvW
Your server’s color rotates every week – server rank is not a factor in determining color. Helps world completionists.
My top ten :
1. Fix the camera problems on large races such as Norns and Charrs when doing a jumping puzzle .
2. Items in the Gem store should be there permanently and account bound , the mining pick for example should be there forever instead of being there for a limited time along with the communal boost fire ( maybe give communal boost fire an hour long cooldown . )
3. Ranger pets should not run ahead of you and aggroing mobs , also if I put a pet away , it should stay there until called . Also needed are more ranger pets .
4. Let me transmute my armor with either Heavy , medium ,or light . Wearing the same pirate trenchcoat costume can get tiring .
5. Sell mounts , the broom was a good start .
6. Nothing really good to buy at the Gem store , sell some guild houses , player housing , and maybe some heroes and make them account bound .
7. AOE nerf , get rid of it , people should learn to avoid red circles .
8. Dailies , bring back the old dailies where people achieved dailies for just playing the game .
9. Fluff , there’s not enough of it , try adding some more like fishing , boating , or hang gliding , really the scenery is beautiful but all I do is kill creatures all day .
10 . Asuras , they’re too big , make them smaller like their progeny .
1-insignificance of CC vs the reign of burst… this leads to bad game mechanic, bad meta bad dungeon design and classism. (direct hit professions vs condition professions).
2- part of the problem is that critical hits are too good and too easy to max out, perception stat should be toned down.
3- another part of the problem is defiance/unshakable mechanic which makes CC builds worthless as trash can be skipped or easily killed
4-healing power is nearly useless stat. only one profession can benefit and be useful in groups from maxing out healing power. (and even this statement is questionable by minmaxers)
5- the majority of DEs are too easy and can be soloed easily. some of the DEs solve themselves (there is an event in nigeling town when bandits attack the town, the town guards just kill the bandits even the veterans by themselves… ) no real challenge.
6- ascended jewelry murdered the jewel crafting, it is easier to get ascended sets than level up jewelcrafting. ascended armors will murder another three crafting skills…. don’t do it!
7- megaboss events are silly, they just spawn and die to angry mob in under a minute,
they should be mobs with AI and skills variety and aggro tables not buildings on timer.
8- no reason to cap AOE damage and heals on five. it is already capped in diameter…
9- oh yes, magic find. magic find should be either removed from gear (only food and buffs are acceptable because party members can see them)
or split evenly between the party members in the instance.
10- lack of good items in the store, i got the bank, got the extra char slot, nothing else is worth my money… really… (in DDO i spent willingly 110$ on turbine points with no regrets, here I open the gem shop and its hard to find something that appeal to me)
The main ones for me are:
1) Splitting PvE/PvP/WvW skills very, very frequently. Split traits too if necessary. Split as much as possible. A little temporary bit of player confusion is so much better than the absolute mess of balance we have going on right now, where players in one realm are punished unfairly, harshly, and frequently due to problems in a completely different, unrelated area of the game.
2) Remove the condition cap, give everybody their own burn/poison stack. Make damage against destructibles take into account your conditions, even if it just increases the flat damage rather than making a graveling mound bleed. Conditions characters have massive problems that non-condition characters don’t have to deal with, for no reason.
There are plenty of other issues but those two are far and away the biggest as far as I’m concerned. Everything else can wait.
1. Make ascended rings salvageable for mist essence/ectos or make it so that we can put 4 into mystic forge and get a random one back in return with a chance of upgrade.
2. Have some way of controlling the insane price of the precursors. Getting all the materials for crafting legendary is hard enough, and I dont want to spend another 700g on top just to get the precursor. Maybe make it as an account bound drop from laurel merchant when you purchase the ‘profession’ gear box and open it, and have like increased chance of getting precursor when certain conditions on the char are met.
1-10 The Targeting System –
Select nearest enemy should not be based on your field of view.
(ie: the camera is rotated a certain way, so an enemy right next to you cant be targeted with the target nearest enemy button) Using your field of view for the targeting system is a terrible idea.
Also, the right mouse button SHOULD NOT DO ANYTHING EXCEPT ROTATE THE CAMERA. Too many times I’ve lost a target, accidentally picked up a a bundle item, activated a switch, started talking to an NPC, or started ressing a dead NPC, while JUST TRYING TO ROTATE MY CAMERA using the right mouse button.
How on earth can you let this terrible system linger on in the game this far from launch?
Notice the screenshot below…..
After pushing the “Target Nearest Enemy” key, the game selects the Ettin further away from my character.
Why?
Because, the Ettin I want to target is “hiding” behind a tree… like something out of a bad cartoon.
(edited by TheBlackLeech.9360)
1) pvp needs to be removed
that would fix the game for me.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
While using the compass’s auto rotation feature, it is possible to lose track of which direction you are facing since there is only one marker, an ‘N’ and that N can get covered up by waypoints, quest markers, commander icons, etc.
Which way is North on the compass in my screenshot?
(edited by TheBlackLeech.9360)
3) General noob unfriendliness. This game makes it very hard for new players. Important concepts go unexplained virtually forever. If you don’t have friends to ask, you may as well just quit.
I strongly disagree. GW2 is my first MMO ever. I had no problem whatsoever to understand the game and the mechanics. Maybe you mean specifically-GW2-noob-with-a-MMO-history then? Then the problem isn’t GW2, but the others MMO that have convolutions and you are used to those.
1. Speed signet for every class
2. Loot – need to improve loot in the world so that people are not clustered around world bosses waiting for each one to pop. Real world loot is not good at all.
3. Remove diminishing returns – we need to farm for legendary components (T6 mats), however this diminishing returns system is ridiculous and it adds nothing of value to the game.
4. Dungeons – easy, medium & hard modes
5. Mobs with knockback effects – just annoying as hell
6. RNG gambling – See Wintersday, flame and frost
7. Pre-cursors – need more ways to get them
8. Condition stacks/removals – condition < power in a big way. This needs to be re-evaluated.
9. Talk to the class forums – people feel ignored, which leads to bitterness.
10. Auto looting (especially in WvW)
11. Necro life siphoning should be affected by healing power – it’s pathetic in its current form.
80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)
1) pvp needs to be removed
that would fix the game for me.
Balancing focused on PVP you mean or a complete split between the two.
I like PVP, and lots of others, and I don’t think there is any way they’d remove it…
1) The camera needs to be fixed. Specially when you are doing jumping puzzles with a norn or a charr.
2) Right mouse button targeting should be disabled. Or at least provide an option to turn it on/off.
3) Legendary pre-cursors. I was more happy the day I got a pre-cursor than the day I finished the legendary. For an item that special there should be some meaningful ways to acquire one.
4) New PvP modes. Multiple team arenas, run relics, protect npcs… bring back Heroe’s Ascent.
5) GvG. This is the thing I miss the most from GW1. Add GvG’s with Wv3 mechanics and you will have the perfect game. This would also mean that we would get Guild Halls back.
And that’s all for me.
1 thing and 1 thing alone.
1). Add PvP Stalwart Shoulder skin to the pve loot table or fix the bugged one in the story quest! Please and thank you! Its the only shoulder piece I adore
1- Skill system was made boring to achieve balance. Balance 7 motnhs after release is worse then it ever was in gw1, skills still boring thou
2-Rangers ( i would punch myself if i could go back in time when i made one and wasted 500 hours on her)
3- There is still not pvp. Spvp is not pvp. GvG, HA, Arenas are pvp ( personal preference thou ).
4- Bugs. So many bugs. Rangers shortbow still fires only 33% faster under quickness for example (worked fine until you “fixed an animation glitch”)
5-Optimization. I have recommended specs, and i run the game at 50 fps usually. I go down to FIVE in certain circumstances. Introduce particle/detail scaling when there are more people.
Permanent Stow for Ranger Pets…
Its needed so badly
See screenshot.
Is that not working in Arah?
Actually no it temp stows the pet and once you’re attacked it brings it back out, this has never been fixed.
