I thought about this and there is no place for Druids in GW2 except with the Norn and the Humans.
GW1 had the Dervish which was almost spot on for a Druid since we draw down and invoke our gods/goddesses and that is what the Avatars were. That is what the Humans could do in GW2 with a Dervish/Druid class. They’d gain new skills and weapons including 6 new elite skills.
The Norn have their Totem Animal Spirits which ALL Norn (with the exception of Jora after the Drakkar Lake incident) can invoke, so a Norn Dervish/Druid wouldn’t gain much different except new skills and weapons. No real new elites.
The Charr, Sylvari, and Asuras don’t have gods/goddesses/totems. These races would be excluded from being Dervishes/Druids.

Pretty much this. The druids may even be the reason Sylvari are humanoid in shape.

Druids are (Konig, you can always correct me ;p) Human travelers/outcasts, who went to the Maguuma Jungle and started to become one with the jungle turned into spirits who can turn into trees, I remember being a theory (before launch, right after BWE3) that the Pale Tree is a druid, as sheis a spirit.
You can find a druid (involved in Event chain) in South East Brisban Wildlands
Now about a profesion, as mentioned above, a mixture of the Dervish and Ritualist, attune to Auras of the Gods and call the help from spirits. (would come close to ‘druids" I geuss) wouldn’t really work, as all races believe in different things and so change form (a mechanic like the Elementelist s’ Attunements) , MAybe you could change the names(but not the mechanics) depending on race,
Norn: Spirits (Wolf, Bear, Raven, Snowleopard,( Owl,Hare)
Humans: the Six( Lyssa, Balthazar, Kormir, Dwayna, Melandru, Grenth)
ASura: things to do with the eternal alchemy
Sylvari: rules of ventari ’s tablet
Charr: that’s the problem, they don’t believe in gods. maybe Blood, Flame,Iron,Ash,…
or you generalise it to things like: Death, Life, Power, Beauty/illusion, (Nature, Truth.)
I would like a Shaman class. Screw druids, just roll a Norn Ranger.

You might as well say that this isn’t Dungeons and Dragons… or that this game isn’t an extension of Guild Wars 1.
In the Maguuma Jungle there was an outpost called “Druid’s Overlook”.
- There actually are or have been druids in Tyria, although we haven’t met them as a class or anything as of yet.
- Lore says that the Druids were a group of Krytans that moved to the Maguuma Jungle in order to live with nature. They were last seen sometime before 982 AE and mysteriously vanished before 1072 AE.
- They are believed to have been killed off by the predatory plants and animals of the Maguuma Jungle.
However, implementing them into GW2 could be problematic since they shed their physical bodies to become one with nature.
- In Guild Wars 1 they existed as spirits.

Anyhow, uknortherner, you should stop assuming that every class that have also (I say also because Blizzard didn’t create these classes) been used by Blizzard are indeed their creation.
- Your argument is not valid since Druids are not something unique to WoW, and because they have actually existed in the Guild Wars universe. There is a good chance that the OP have played WoW, yes, but he might as well have been playing dnd, or heard about druids in the first GW game (though he might have come up with some kind of suggestion as to why the Druids would return… maybe some survived and made their way back. Personally, I prefer to get more than just the old “implement this class!”)
Somehow, I don’t think the OP was interested in GW lore. As I said, he drew a direct comparison with WoW and every thread he has started has insisted on introducing one element or other because it’s “cool” and WoW has it, not because it’s lore-friendly.
Nowhere did I assume that every class used by Blizzard was their creation. The OP used WoW as a reference and failed to elaborate on how druids would fit into GW2 lore, just like he failed to elaborate on what purposes mounts would have in the game other than being “cool” and because “WoW has them”.

Yeh, I thought I’d met one or two down that way as well. I think there’s some spirit ones as well as some seemingly frozen in the ponds. Frankly I thought all the creatures with the oakheart model were a druid of sorts. Does avatar of melandru cause you to become a druid?
I’ve plugged this before and I’ll do it again: my concept for an ancestor worshipping, land-spirit calling, scythe wielding class is the Wayfarer
It’s a meld of dervish and ritualist with pet summoning abilities (as all classes have in some way) as well as ranged magic or melee combat. It’d be plausible for all races except charr who might be a bit peeved summoning more spirits, but it’s not like they’re not known for being unorthodox when necessary.

Actually Jotun and Ettin are both races of giants in mythology .
Given that druids are a kind of “nature” based magic class, all you really need to do is give rangers a staff with suitable spell-like skills attached to it. Just combine that with healing spring and some spirits and bam druid.
Bring back the ritualist instead Anet.
