Why not use buffs designed for fractals instead of Ascended items.

You play the lower levels of the fractal to collect “agony buffs” items that can be used for higher levels of the fractal.

Ascended skins will then become a legendary with exotic stats.

And this forces all players to replay the lower levels of the fractal to collect “agony buffs”

If you don’t have a buff item your teammate can cast one of you.

The thing is Ascended gear is not for purely fractal its a set of gear that lower end ppl can get “the pore mans” legend set. It may seem hard to get Ascended as is but its going to become far easier to get it as they add more in. It the knee jerk reaction of fear of endless gear that getting most ppl up in arms.

Think of it like this most ppl do not want to 100% the maps and do not want to go though endless trys to get the right out come for items this is most like true for all the gear in the legendary.

This would solve problems with people not finding groups for fractals.

I doubt this would go down well with players.


Rather than ‘buffs’, why not fight mechanics that reduce / remove Agony for a short time? Such as:

  • Standing in beneficial areas outside of combat range (so people can’t just pew-pew from there)
  • Losing LoS with the mob
  • Standing in periodic AoEs that remove Agony
  • Killing constructs to reduce the effect of Agony
Life is a journey.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
